I genetically have “hooded eyes” and I’m not sure what would be best to correct them? I’ve heard of brow lift, but I don’t think that would work in my situation since my eyes aren’t droopy, and my eyebrows are already high up. Would my only option be to do upper blepharoplasty? Answers greatly appreciated!
Answer: Upper blepharoplasty for hooded eyes You may be candidate for upper blepharoplasty to reduce the hooded upper eyelids effect. Brow lift is not necessary. Consultation best to determine what is needed.

Answer: Improving Hooded Eyelids -- Botox/Xeomin/Dysport/Jeuveau for Brow Lift, Fillers, RF (Thermage, Legacy, Viva), Blepharoplasty For significant improvement, hooded eyelids require surgery if there is enough skin. For nonsurgical treatments: Radiofrequency (Thermage or Venus Legacy/Viva), injectable fillers, and a Botox brow lift can help contour the eyebrows and lift the eyelid skin. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: The Ten Minute Eyelift Can Work Well For Shrinking Hooded Upper Lids For over twenty years, I have been treating hooded upper lids, including performing it on my own eyelids, using a technique that I dubbed "The Ten Minute Eyelift," since it literally takes no more than five minutes per side to perform (even when I did it on myself). This technique, which is performed under simple local anesthesia, uses standard, simple electrocautery to immediately shrink and contract the excess skin of the upper lids tissue and promote new collagen formation. In recent years, certain relatively expensive, "bells and whistles" radiofrequency, ultrasound, and "plasma energy" devices have joined the ranks of treatment possibilities. However, I really haven't seen any particular benefits to these over electrocautery. Unlike surgical blepharoplasty, The Ten Minute Eyelift involves no scalpel cutting and does not require any stitches. There is little in the way of restrictions after the procedure (I took a ten hour international flight three hours after I treated myself). Treated skin heals quickly, much like after a deep scrape, and typically resolves with a very fine linear scar that remains hidden within the fold of the lid (I usually show mine to all interested patients). The results of treatment are permanent. Best of luck.

Answer: What treatment is best to correct my “hooded eyes”? Fullness of the upper lids can be cosmetically improved with a number of surgical options depending on individual anatomy and desired outcome: an artistically performed conservative upper blepharoplasty, a repositioning of the brow if it is low, or a combination of both.In a patient with your anatomy a conservative upper lid blepharoplasty should produce a nice cosmetic result. Following the advice of anyone who would presume to tell you what to do based on a limited photo and more importantly without taking a full medical history, examining… SHOW MORE you, feeling and assessing your tissue tone, discussing your desired outcome and fully informing you about the pros and cons of each option would not be in your best interest. Find a plastic surgeon that you are comfortable with and one that you trust and listen to his or her advice. The surgeon should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
