In our practice, since we are not part of a teaching program, our surgical assistant is always the scrub technician. The tech's purpose is to set up, and to hand instruments, and to assist the surgeon with exposure and the procedure. All rhinoplasty procedures require at least two people and an anesthesiologist. If you are dealing with a doctor who has his own physician assistant, or his own fellow in training, or otolaryngology resident , that could be another player during rhinoplasty surgery. I hope this answers your question! Sincerely, Dr Joseph
Not at all. Recovery is very smooth with rhinoplasty surgery. Approximately 80% of my patients who are coming for rhinoplasty surgery from overseas come by themselves. We don’t expect any pain and discomfort after the surgery and we strongly encourage our patients to be up and about right away.
As the delicate tissues of the nose are being reshaped and repositioned, an assistant helps stabilize the tissues so accurate suturing and shaping can be the sole focus of the surgeon.
Thank you for your question. In my opinion, rhinoplasty is not a one-person intervention. While the assistant is often the scrub nurse, this arrangement can mean the nurse is required to perform two separate roles simultaneously. To optimise the process, having a dedicated surgical assistant—whether a nurse or another surgeon—is highly valuable.A surgical assistant plays a crucial role in providing exposure to the treatment area, enabling the surgeon to gain better access and allowing them to use both hands effectively for the required work. This significantly enhances the precision and efficiency of the procedure.Additionally, the assistant helps manage the small drops of blood that accumulate around the treatment area, which can otherwise obstruct visibility. By keeping the area clear, they ensure the surgeon can focus fully on the technical aspects of the rhinoplasty without interruption.
Pretty much every surgery in the world is done with at least one assistant, unless it is an extremely small case, and even then it would be pretty rare as it is much more efficient to the surgeon and the patient to have an assistant. Basically, there's just not enough that can be done with two hands alone so you need at least another set of hands to help assist in the case, be it passing instruments, loading up sutures, holding skin away so you can use your hands to suture, etc.
Hello and thank you for your question. All rhinoplasty requires retraction and therefore a surgical scrub assistant is needed. However, in my practice, for example I perform every single aspect of the surgery myself, including placing every single suture myself. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. During a rhinoplasty procedure, there's usually one surgeon, one scrub nurse, a circulating nurse in the operating room, and then a Recovery room nurse once the procedure has been completed. There's also an anesthesia provider as well. Rhinoplasty does not require two surgeons. Rhinoplasty is the most difficult operation to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so study your prospective surgeon's before and after rhinoplasty photo gallery, which should be extensive with results that you like.
Thank you for your inquiry! We would love to meet with you in person or virtually to discuss your surgical and non-surgical options. Schedule a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to help you reach your goals.
Hello, It appears that you have cephalically rotated and convex lower lateral cartilages. What that means is that the cartilages of your tip are round in shape and also pointed more upward. This results in the extra fullness you are seeing. This has to be treated in a very specific way to avoid...
Hello!Thank you for your question. As far as I can see from your photos It is quite common for the nose to appear more asymmetrical due to facial asymmetry. With rhinoplasty, a more harmonious nose is possible, but the asymmetry is permanent. It would be better face to face consultation Best...
