miraDry - is this treatment effective if prior Botox injections haven't worn off yet?

Hi Vanessadoll.I have used MiraDry when Botox has been working and when its effect has run out. The mechanism of action is different between the two products. MiraDry is effective in reducing 75 to 82% of the sweat permanently in just one treatment. I have effectively treated patients who recently had botox with great success.  The sweat glands are destroyed by the heat generated from MiraDry regardless of botox so it shouldn't matter. 

Hi there, There is no contraindication with getting miraDry, even if the Botox results have not worn off. We have many patients that have converted to miraDry to permanently address the sweating and odor issues. Its much most cost effective because within a year or so, the amount of money you spent on Botox, could pay for 2 miraDry treatments, which a permanent. Botox can be used to treat underarm sweating but it wears off, typically in 3 to 6 months.  MiraDry will permanently reduce underarm sweating.   You do not have to wait for the Botox to wear off to do MiraDry treatment.  

Yes, you can still get miraDry if the Botox hasn't worn off yet, and it is just as effective. They work by totally different mechanisms and miraDry permanently kills the sweat glands. 

Botox interferes with the transmission of signals from the nerves to the sweat glands. MiraDry actually uses microwave technology to destroy the sweat glands. You shouldn't have any problem having the MiraDry performed while you still feel that Botox is working. We are getting great results so far. Only one patient had to have a second treatment and that was on an area that was less than 10% of the armpit. the added bonus with MiraDry is that 50-70% of the hair follicles are also destroyed with a single treatment.

I have done miraDry since 2011 and have done it before Botox has lost its effectiveness. The sweating is usually limited to the hair bearing areas of the underarms and they can treat beyond it to make sure they got it all covered.We are a Platinum Plus Provider for miraDry.
