Great Question! Both Botox and MiraDry are effective treatments for underarm sweat and odor. Botox is a TEMPORARY treatment that will need to be repeated over time, which can be costly in the long run. Miradry, is a PERMANENT option. MiraDry uses heat energy to target and destroy the sweat and odor glands in your underarm. Once those glands are destroyed they do not grow back. The majority of patients see a 75-82% reduction in sweat and odor after one treatment. Those who have severe hyperhidrosis may need additional treatments. In the long-term, MiraDry is more cost-effective. Best regards, Dr. Aldo :-)
MiraDry is permanent but can be performed without any problem after Botox or even while the effect from Botox is still in place. Botox works for only 6-8 months and then needs to be repeated.
miraDry gives approximately 80% reduction of sweat in the the treated area. Botox can also be done to reduce the excess perspiration that isn't achieved after miraDry. The difference is the results from miraDry are permanent and Botox lasts approximately 6months. There is no contraindications with either treatments or combining the two. Hope this helps.
miraDry is effective in treating excessive underarm sweating. As a matter of fact, in our practice, 90% of our patients require a SINGLE miraDry session at Level 5. We are a Platinum Plus Provider for miraDry. We have been performing miraDry since May 2011.
Both these procedures are very effective for the treatment of underarm sweat and odor. Botox can last up to 6 months. It is NOT permanent so twice a year treatments that are required yearly can be costly over time. Miradry, on the other hand is permanent. 80% people require 1 treatment. The results are seen at one week and the new baseline reduction is seen at 6 weeks. From a cost effective standpoint, MIRADRY is far superior.Best wishes,Dr. Ravi Somayazula
Botox certainly works for underarm sweating however it only lasts for a few months and needs to be repeated. MiraDry has been very effective and most people only require one treatment. It not only helps sweating but also helps with odor. The effects last for years and there is very little down time.
MiraDry uses heat energy to target and destroy the sweat and odor glands in the underarms. Once they are destroyed, they do not grow back. Initially, patients may experience bruising and swelling (some describe as lumpiness) in the underarm area. This typically subsides within the first few...
Precision TX is using laser fiber inserted under the skin and deploy laser energy to destroy glands on the deep surface of the skin. It is very operator and energy dependent. The major risk is burning of the skin which can result from minor burn scar to necrosis depending on the severity of the...

Thank you for your question and for sharing your story. I would not undergo a 4th treatment. You would to be evaluated to determine which parts of the armpits continue to produce sweat (and odor). We have performed many miraDry procedures, and I have only had to operate on two patients. O...
Thank you for your question. Excessive sweating between the buttocks can be very problematic and the use of miraDry in this location (or any other location except the armpits) would be considered off-label. There are other solutions that could be used here including Botox (or Dysport). I wo...
Thank you for your question. The reason we have patients wait at least 12 weeks from treatment is to allow the area to fully heal and all swelling to subside. We do a starch iodine test and take photos prior to the 1st treatment to establish a baseline, and then we repeat this procedure in 12...
