Why is miradry said to last only 2 years?

Some of the Q&A's here advise that Miradry only lasts up to 2 years. But if it REALLY destroys sweat glands how can they grow back? US$4000 is quite costly and for many of us we have to save up for a while to be able to afford it. I want to know if 2 sessions will really eradicate sweat and odor by at least 70% permanently.

About 90% of our patients only need one treatment. For those that do need a second treatment, we discount the 2nd procedure by  about half off.

In our practice, 90% of our patients require only a SINGLE miraDry session.1st session is $1500.if you need  second or third, it is only $1000 per session for our patients. No one said it lasts only 2 years. I don't know where you got this information.I have been doing this procedure since 2011 and I am not seeing those patients from 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 coming back for another session!One session of miraDry costs as much as one session of Botox, which only lasts 3 months. H Karamanoukian MD FACS

FDA studies only tested until 2 years post treatment, that is the only reason they say 2 year duration.  This procedure eradicates sweat glands that will not be regenerated in the area treated.  Hope this helps.

We performed much of the original scientific research at my dermatology practice.  The FDA is relatively strict about claims a company can make about effectiveness, and the original published data collected from the studies only went out 2 years.  But real world clinical experience is now approaching 10 years, and efficacy has persisted in the majority of patients that have been treated.  The general consensus from treating physicians is that miraDry effectiveness is extremely long lasting, at least for many years.  Based on the fact that miraDry destroys sweat glands, the results may be permanent.

miraDry is a procedured that has been approved by the FDA  that offers permanent results. It works on sweating and odor by using electromagnetic energy to eliminate or damage the sweat glands. Once the sweat glands are eliminated or damaged they do not regenerate. In a clinical study following 120 patients, 70% of miraDry recipients said their sweating no longer bothered them and is effective almost immediately after one treatment. Second treatment of miraDry in majority of patients is not needed. Patients will also benefit with hair reduction.  In the Unites States, the FDA studied original published data of miraDry procedures and the studies were reviewed for only 2 years after treatment.  While everyone may experience results differently, majority of patients do experience 70 - 90 % permanent results.  Prices vary across the United States but cost is around $1500 to $2500 for the first treatment and $500 to $1000 for the second treatment.
