Fluid Retention After miraDry?

What you are experiencing is normal and will most likely resolve within the next week. we typically inject about 100-120mL of lidocaine to numb the underarm area prior to treatment. This can take a while for the body to reabsorb. There will be little to no pain while our nurse performs the procedure. In a study performed by miraDry®, patients rated pain a 2 out of 10 (1 being no pain, 10 being worst pain).

MiraDry reduces underarm sweat by 82% as well as reducing odor.  The swelling varies from patient to patient.  We recommend arnica after each treatment we offer.  the swelling will resolve.

This is normal and affects some patients. Swelling can occur in the underarms, upper arms, and even on the chest wall or breast. It should completely resolve but can take weeks. Please speak with your physician that performed the treatment. 

This will go away and I have seen several patients with such exaggerated lymphatic fluid accumulation after miraDry. Rest assured that it will go away. I recommend citrus bioflavonoids for post procedure reduction of tissue fluid retention. See link below for Swell-X

Thank you for your question.It rare to have fluid retention after the MiraDry procedure but it can happen as it can disrupt your lymphatics, it should settle but I was recommend that you see your practitioner to make sure everything is settling as it should.

Yes, the Miradry procedure can have many rare side effects.  It never hurts to go back in for a follow up to make sure all is going well.
