Hello! Thank you for your question! The mommy makeover - what plastic surgeons think of as a tummy tuck with breast contouring - is a very popular procedure that can produce excellent results! Pregnancy/age/weight loss all play big roles in the laxity and normal aging cascade seen. The procedure has become very popular in those women looking to rejuvenate their belly and breasts after completing such events as you describe. The abdominoplasty will contour your belly, remove loose tissue as well as lower the position, and plicate your abdominal wall to youthful tightness. If you are content with your current size, the breast lift will serve to raise your nipple-areolar complex, give you a more perky/uplifted appearance, and give you more youthful/fuller breasts. An implant would give size, shape, and fullness. It typically takes 4-6 hours of operative time, depending on size/complexity. These procedures may be safely combined at one setting, given you are healthy and without significant medical comorbdities. I would consult with a plastic surgeon who would examine you and discuss the various options and assist you to decide if you wish to undergo all of the procedures at once or at smaller staged procedures. An examination of the amount of work to do with each will also make the decision. There would obviously be a cost saving and recovery benefit for a one-stage procedure. However, your safety should not be sacrificed for these reasons.Thank you for your question! Hope that his helps and best wishes for a superb result!
Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us.For safety reasons, to be a good candidate for those procedures you want at the same time, your labs and cardiovascular preoperative evaluation must be optimal. Therefore, you must be a healthy person, within an appropriate BMI and no history of diseases that increase the surgical / anesthetic risk degree. Finally, I recommend you a skilled certified plastic surgeon in body contouring surgery and experienced in cases like yours where the planned operating time is less than five hours.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Mommy Makeover Surgery is an extremely popular procedure with high patient satisfaction. It involves breast rejuvenation; breast lift, with or without implants and Tummy-tuck. It is all usually performed at one time, but can be staged as well. Depending on the surgeon, both procedures performed simultaneously takes 4-6 hours. It is important to try to get as close as possible to an ideal weight before surgery to achieve the best result. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon with lots of experience. Good luck!A
You are requesting a Mommy Makeover. Each surgery will depend on exactly what you need, but in general, a tummy tuck and breast lift can take about 4-5 hours. This is within the safe range of anesthesia times. I perform these surgeries in a fully accredited office operating facility and you are able to go home the same day. Each surgeon is different, so these are things to discuss during your consultation.
Many plastic surgery procedures, particularly tummy tucks and breasts lifts, are not "one size fits all", as there are a variety of techniques that can be employed depending upon the patients wishes and their anatomy. Each technique involves various degrees of complexity and thus leads to some variability in operative time, based on which technique is used. On average I would expect a combined tummy tuck and breast lift case to take between 3-6 hours, but again this totally depends upon what specifically is being done (for example, is liposuction being used or are implants being placed?). An in-office evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon will provide you with a more specific answer to your question.Best of luck!Keith BlechmanNew York, NY
Honestly, without assessing you in person and knowing exactly which tummy tuck and breast lift you'll need, hard to say. My best advice would be for you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to be assessed in person and discuss surgery length. The amount of time needed to perform a tummy tuck and breast lift will depend on the individual case as well as the surgeon. These two procedures are commonly and safely performed together and should take less than six hours combined of surgical time.
Hi there,This is becoming more and more common in the patients that I see.The time obviously varies from surgeon to surgeon as well as from patient to patient but as a ball park figure I would suggest 5 hours would be reasonable. This is perfectly safe to do providing appropriate measures are taken such as DVT prevention, temperature control and fluid management. The more important question really is will it slow your recovery having both procedures done together. My advice to patients is that it doesn't effect healing or recovery. Generally it will take 6 weeks for you to get back to full activity, and if you have the operations done separately then it would be 2 lots of 6 weeks, so certainly from a time off work and activities it is more efficient to have them done together.Think of it this way. It is like flying a plane, there is no more significant risk if you fly from NY to Washington, compared to flying from NY to LA. The most risky part is the take off and landing and in surgery the same applies, going to sleep and waking up probably provide the biggest risk with this type of surgery.Hope that is helpfulRichard
The time necessary to complete the surgery depends on your findings by a physical examination. Is a full TT necessary or can you get the results you want from a Mini TT? How much lift is necessary for your breasts. I recommend you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who performs these procedures regularly.
Time is not the important number in this surgery, it is the skill of the surgeon. Some surgeons are faster and others slower, but as long as the result is good time is not too important. We do them in 3 - 4 hours depending on the make up of the patient.
At your consultation you can speak with your surgeon's office about surgery dates that fit your time frames. The wait time will vary by surgeon. If you are needing something sooner than is currently available you may wish to be added to a wait list for any cancellations that may occur.
Thank you for your question. The most important step to take in this process is to include your Neurologist as well as providing all your medical history. I generally recommend clearance from the Neurologist as well as the anesthesiologist group I am working with. You also want to be ce...
Thank you for your question. I would generally recommend 2-4 weeks off from work and any other strenuous activity. Most often the plastic surgeon determines where the patient falls in "time off" needed based on the type procedures being performed for the Mommy Make Over as well as the type...
