Hello, I'm thinking about having a breast enlargement since forever. Now I can finally afford it, however, I also love exercise and pole dancing. These two elements shape who I am and giving up on them is not an option. I need to know if after my surgery I will be able to pole dance again (I am intermediate to advanced level) or being able to do weightlifting. So, what should I do? Over or under muscle? The surgeon I spoke to never had pole dancer patients before. Thank you
Answer: Under the muscle will give a more natural result if that is of interest I advise my patients that at three weeks after surgery, it’s OK for you to do aerobic activity (treadmill, stationary bike, etc.), running and lower-body weight training. Women are usually comfortable doing arm exercises (upper-body weights) starting about six weeks after surgery. Among my patients are Triple Crown bodybuilders and kickboxers who go back into competition after getting implants. They start with light training at six weeks and heavier training after eight weeks. None of their implants has deflated. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author. RealSelf Distinguished Hall of Fame Inductee. Philadelphia, Pa., USA

Answer: Pole dancing exercising and breast augmentation sub muscular Hello, thank you for your question. Thats excellent! So for exercise and exercise related pole dancing it is still completely safe to go under the muscle. It is for those who perform and have shows that they sometimes opt to go over the muscle to avoid animation deformity. Animation deformity is when you are activating your pec muscles while exercising and the implants under them shift and it can be apparent. So for performers and pole dancers and body builder competitors we go above the muscle. Speak to your plastic surgeon about your concerns. Feel free to check out our website and youtube channel for more information.

Answer: Implants If you have little or no breast tissue, I would go under the muscle for a better look, less implant edge showing through, and more upper breast fullness. When you pole dance, wear a good supporting bra that minimizes movement of the implants to the sides. I would also avoid choosing a large heavy implant that will just get in your way. I have taken a class and it is so fun and a great work out.

Answer: Implant placement Thank you for your question. I typically always recommend implants to be placed below the muscle. I find they last longer cosmetically, look and feel much more natural then above the muscle implants. Implants above the muscle tend to stretch out the skin over time and you can typically see more of the defect of an implant above the muscle. I would recommend speaking with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Best of luck to you.
