I stopped breastfeeding 6 months ago and would like to get breast augmentation as soon as possible but when I squeeze the nipple a drop of milk comes out. Is it safe to get breast augmentation like that? I had been breastfeeding for a little over 6 years straight before weaning off my last baby.

Answer: Wait until after you've stopped producing milk If you are still producing breast milk, your breasts may be affected by size fluctuations. Your breasts may be bigger than normal as they produce milk, and if you choose implants now based on your current size, your results might be negatively affected when you stop producing milk. For this reason, it’s better to wait until after you’ve completely stopped producing milk.

Answer: Can I get breast augmentation if when I squeeze my nipple a drop of milk still comes out? Although ideally, it would be preferred to delay breast augmentation until there is no residual milk production, most surgeons would feel comfortable performing the procedure with your miniscule milk volume. An inframammary approach would be suggested as a way to stay away from the milk ducts, as the ducts may harbor bacteria.

Answer: Breast milk If you stopped breastfeeding six months ago and the breasts are no longer changing you should be able to proceed with breast augmentation at any time. The next step is to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation to learn more.
