Muscle spasms years after breast augmentation. Should I be concerned?

I got my BA in 2018, I have not had any issues. They’re under the muscle, saline mentor implants. I’m super active, i weight lift, box and more. Just a week ago my right breast started having muscles spasms out of nowhere on the right side up near the nipple but not on it. their still soft, not firm or anything like that but these spasms have been going on off and on now for over a week. ofcourse it’s worse after a workout. Should I be concerned? I don’t think I’ve done anything to aggravate.

Hello I think you just injure your muscle during the sport. I do not think that because of the implants but also it will be good to go to your doctor.

Thank you for your question! I think you may have just aggravated a muscle especially if it is worse after working out. Maybe take it easy for a few days to see if it gets better However, it is always best to visit your provider to have an in person exam to make sure everything is ok. Best of luck!

Hello, thank you for your question. This has been reported before for those of us that have more of a rigorous work out. Speak to your plastic surgeon to make sure nothing else is going on and see what suggestions they may have. It would be difficult to give you more information without  a proper in person examination.

Contact your surgeon for an evaluation of the area to rule out any concerns such as capsular contracture.  It may just be related to over exerting the muscle.  If so rest should improve it.

You may be developing a capsule that is pulling on your muscle. I would suggest going back to your surgeon and being checked. External ultrasound treatments might be helpful.

Your level of concern should be low. The vast majority of the time muscle spasm that occurs years after breast augmentation is either due to mild electrolyte imbalances or overuse. Rest and restoration of electrolyte balance usually fixes the problem. Sometimes muscle relaxants are helpful as well.
