Hello and thank you for your question. It is veryimportant that you thoroughly research your surgeon before committing tosurgery. It is a good idea to research your surgeon's educational background, online reviews, before & after pictures, and speak with anyone who you mayknow who has had surgery with that surgeon. During your consultation, make surethat you don't feel rushed and make sure that you have adequate time with yoursurgeon and not just their patient coordinator or nurses. If the majority ofyour consultation is spent with someone other than the surgeon, this is usuallynot a good sign. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you arecomfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualifiedboard-certified expert surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
rhino3,The top doctors are all over - it's the individual not the location. But, for a complicated case you may want to find someone who has unique experience. We are a destination practice with about 90% of patients flying in from out of state, but there are good doctor's all over.
The location of your surgeon is purely based on your convenience. There are many well trained board certified plastic surgeons that deliver great results in every state and city, regardless of size.
Thank you for your question. Excellent points were made by my colleagues Dr. Farrior and Dr. Finn. There are many fantastic surgeons in your area who are capable of delivering beautiful results. Rhinoplasty requires follow up and this most easily accomplished if you select a local or regional surgeon. I suggest that you consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon with experience in rhinoplasty. Look at their before/after photos, listen to their recommendations, determine the "fit" between your personality and theirs, and make a decision based on these variables. You have many excellent options.
Most rhinoplasty surgeons are usually located in large Metropolitan cities. Look for a surgeon who has dedicated a significant component of their practice to the discipline of rhinoplasty and has a large photo Gallery of before and after rhinoplasty patients.
Surgeon experience and proven results are what matter most. Many great surgeons choose to live in smaller towns because they can. If you're good, patients are willing to travel.
rhino3, you could not pay me enough to live in either of those cities; good surgeons live where they enjoy there surroundings. I've fixed bad rhinoplasties from all over; the most important thing is to see an experienced surgical specialist that does "only faces" and has great photos. See the video and good luck!
Good points from the esteemed Dr. Farrior. One last thought - rhinoplasty needs follow up appointments after surgery, and the best doctors will continue to follow up their patients for years. If you do surgery out of town, you will need to travel several times for followup. Our area has several excellent surgeons specializing in rhinoplasty.
There is no difference based on geography. You will find excellent surgeons in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Charlotte, North Carolina. You should choose your rhinoplasty surgeon based on his skills and reputation not on his advertising budget or location. I have seen "Botched" rhinoplasties from every corner of the United States and the world. How many Hollywood stars that you see with unfavorable outcomes from their cosmetic surgery. It is far more important to have access to a surgeon that you trust in a community where his reputation is a matter of his work. That surgeon will show far more attention to detail, involvement in your recovery and concern over your outcome than someone elsewhere. Your local surgeon has far more invested in your result than someone in New York or Los Angeles. Choose someone that you can communicate with and feel confident in.
Hello, It is difficult to tell whether you have an inverted V deformity based on the photos you've provided. Based on the photos however, it looks like that is not present at this time. One month after surgery is too early for any sort of bony callus to form. It is also...
Dear aliceinwonderland, It is really a personal choice of which bothers you most. However, from my perspective as a surgeon and if you were a family member contemplating the two procedures I would definitely steer you in the way of having the rhinoplasty first. Rhinoplasty is one of the most ...
Hard prominence under the most medial part of your eye is likely from osteotomy. When we break the nasal bone during the surgery to make it smaller or narrower sometimes the superior edge appears sharp and prominent. In mild cases as the bone heals the prominence and sharpness goes away...
