I have had a lower an pooch my whole life. It was worse after 3 c-sections, and I thought I needed a tummy tuck. I was told I was not a candidate because it just wasn't bad enough and that lipo was probably not needed either. The doctor suggested coolsculpting with the flat applicator because there was not enough fat for the auction one. I did see noticeable results within the first few weeks and good results by the 3 month mark. It definitely works for some, but it is more subtle compared to some procedures.
I am 42 years old and have been suffering from axillary hyperhidrosis for about 12 years. It's become worse over the years and I've been taking oxybutynin for the past 2+ years. I am a sales executive and am in front of employees and customers on a regular basis. Prior to taking oxybutynin, which is a drug used for overactive bladder, but one of it's side effects causes severe dryness, I would always wear clothing that would not show the sweat marks under my arms such as dark shirts, sweaters, sports coats etc. If I was away on business often times I would have to go to my hotel room and change shirts or use the hairdryer to get rid of the sweat marks. It was a real problem and it was very embarrassing when people noticed it. The oxybutyinin helped quite a bit and I was very thankful that my primary care physician was able to address the problem with this drug. However, there were unwanted side effects with taking it. I was always dry, especially in the winter months and my hands would be rough and cracked...not good when you're shaking hands with people everyday because your job depends on it. In addition, my mouth was constantly dry and I was much more tired than ever before. I also began having some pretty severe breakthroughs and the only way to fix the problem was to increase my dose, which I was not willing to do. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to deal with it...until now. I saw a local story on the news about MiraDry and scheduled my consultation right away. I had my first treatment on September 20th in Chestnut Hill, MA with a nurse from Dr. Kaminer's office. She was terrific! From start to finish it was about two and a half hours. The worst part of the treatment was the numbing medication, which had I read more of these reviews beforehand I would have been better prepared. Both my arms went numb and I had tingling in my fingers for about 5 hours after the procedure. For the most part the procedure didn't hurt with the exception of some hot spots under my left arm, which were quite painful for several seconds before it cooled down. I iced for about 48 hours after the procedure and I had lots of swelling and bruising (see picture which I took the day after the procedure.) I stopped taking the oxybutynin and I feel so much better! No more dryness and being tired all of the time. The first several days to a week after the procedure I had absolutely no sweating at all, but I do occasionally sweat now, but not nearly as bad as I did before. I will clearly need to go back for a second treatment. However, I still do have some swelling and occasional pain under my arms even after three weeks. The second picture I posted was from today. There's no more bruising, but I think the little bit of swelling is still evident. If it doesn't go away within a week or so I'll give my doctor a call. Overall, I am very happy with the results and would recommend the MiraDry procedure to anyone who has been suffering from severe axillary hyperhidrosis.
I had my abdomen & love handles done twice and after a few months i am happy with the results! The doctor was very traight forward when discussing expectations- it works best for people who are relatively in shape but have problem areas BUT anyone CAN get the treatment but should know that they will need more than one treatment which can add up BUT to have it be non invasive, no down time & painless is a huge plus. You just need a little patience to see the results but i swear i woke up one day & my clothes fit better, i couldnt believe it. Diet & exercise definitely go hand in hand with this treatment.
This was the best thing I've ever done. I've always had a pooch in my abdominal area. Now after three treatments it's totally flat. It was a little sore and numb for a few weeks. Took about a month to see results. So worth it. I recommend it to anyone with a few problem areas that don't improve with diet and excercise.
Lipo Gone Bad
What went wrong? What should I do? 2 months post lipo looks worse. Please help! NOTE: he did tumescent liposuction as well as ProLipo assisted laser liposuction. He said he removed almost 2 pounds. The goal was "no more roll". I'm just trying to understand how it could actually look worse. Did he not take the fat out? ..or did it just sink lower? ..there was much scraping/pushing hard of tissue in the process (fibrous back) ..is this protocol? ..does it ruin connective tissue? would another technique have been better? I'm trying to understand how this happened. Was told "It went perfectly, you won't need touch ups ..you should see difference at 1 month" ..it is now 2 ..so I am scared. What do I do? It was more expensive than anything I've seen ..I wanted to go to someone that would do a good job ..he said he costs more because doing this so long ..what happened? Updated on 6 Jan 2010: Now it has been 3 months. I have not been given an explanation as to what happened and was asked to just keep waiting despite no changes since day 1 post lipo ..looks worse than before I arrived and the scars on my sides (not shown here) are the darkest and most obvious ..now I have to hide my body and hope they go away. This is so sad. :( Updated on 7 Jan 2010: Did it to get rid of back roll and have thinner arms. Would not bother again. VERY expensive! ..although is it too early to tell? It has only been 6 weeks so far. The procedure itself when they inject fluid was kinda painful ..minimal pain after the procedure itself. NO change so far ..looks a little worse and was very expensive ..right now wishing had just rid of it through diet ...unless I can expect more significant changes? ..not too sure. Updated on 12 Jan 2010: The doctor FINALLY didn't say "you look great", but agreed it looks the SAME/WORSE ..after I had my medical file and pictures and after his staff has seen them too. He is not willing to redo and only offered to refund $2500 despite agreeing that it looks the same. He blames my skin ..which he had said was superb and extremely springy ..and it did go back to the same shape just 2 weeks after procedure proving that he was right ..and you can also still grab inches of fat because it is fat not skin ..so for him to say it was skin elasticity when no fat was removed and my body perked to what it was after the trauma so quickly ..in addition to him agreeing I had great skin (even the staff were saying that during the procedure) ..is ridiculous. This is very disappointing. Can anyone recommend a doctor? Thank you. Updated on 23 Jul 2011: List Pros & Cons, Advice you can offer others
The question of exactly which types of cellulite we can treat with Cellfina is an interesting one. Typically we treat the buttocks and outer thighs, but that is evolving. We performed the original cellulite and Cellfina research several years ago at my dermatology practice. During that initial trial, we focused on the buttocks but found evidence that outer thigh cellulite tended to respond to Cellfina as well. When we started to look at the outer thighs, we also found that the back of the thighs responded nicely. Now that Cellfina is more widely used, we are also learning that the front of the thighs, in the right candidate, can respond nicely to Cellfina. But the caveat here is that the visible problem has to be cellulite for Cellfina to work, and not loose skin. In many instances, and in particular the images shown here for the arms, loose skin is a primary part of the problem. In that case, Cellfina will not work. So the best thing you can do is see a skilled Cellfina physician near your home and have your skin evaluated for cellulite and laxity. If it is cellulite only, then Cellfina will likely help quite a bit. But for the arms, I just don't think we are there yet.
We performed much of the original scientific research at my dermatology practice. The FDA is relatively strict about claims a company can make about effectiveness, and the original published data collected from the studies only went out 2 years. But real world clinical experience is now approaching 10 years, and efficacy has persisted in the majority of patients that have been treated. The general consensus from treating physicians is that miraDry effectiveness is extremely long lasting, at least for many years. Based on the fact that miraDry destroys sweat glands, the results may be permanent.
I completely agree with my colleagues who believe you can be helped by Cellfina. In the clinical trials that were performed in our research center, we proved that 99% of patients achieved noticeable improvement following Cellfina treatment. This improvement lasts for many years (if not permanently), and patient satisfaction is extremely high (near 95%). Importantly, Cellfina works beautifully on the buttocks, so I would expect you to achieve significant improvement. However, some of your dimples are a little deeper than others, and we have found that those can be stubborn. The deeper dimples do improve, but on occasion ancillary procedures such as filling with Sculptra or Renuva can be helpful to achieve the final smoothness you are looking for. Good luck! Dr. Kaminer
Cellfina is the longest lasting, most effective FDA cleared treatment for cellulite. The original clinical trials, which were performed in my office, demonstrated that 99% of patients improved within 4 to 6 months. In addition, more than 95% of these patients are pleased with their results. Now that Cellfina has been widely available in clinical practice, patients routinely comment about how pleased they are with the quality and extent of improvement of their cellulite. My average patient rates Cellfina results as an 8-9 out of 10. The buttocks and outer thighs do the best, but we are also able to treat the back of the thighs quite effectively. The results really are eye-catching...patients are really happy.
You may be the perfect miraDry candidate. MiraDry is effective in over 95% of patients for the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis. But one of the under-recognized benefits that comes along with treatment is the elimination of order. This combination of sweat and odor reduction is incredibly satisfying to patients. About 60% of patient achieve success after only one treatment, and nearly all patients are satisfied after two.
