I got it done about 10 days ago and one of my armpits has a little bruise still and is swollen in a certain area and sort of numb. These past two days, I wore a light long sleeve and a jacket over it, and I still found myself having wet armpits just standing there or sitting in class. Is this normal? Will I need a second treatment already? As of right now, I am very disappointed with my result with miradry and need more information on it! Thank you!

Answer: Breakthrough sweating early after miraDry Those of us that have done miraDry since 2011 know that there are a certain number of patientts that have 'breakthrough' sweating in the first 7-14 days after miraDry. This is no indication that the procedure failed as some have suggested. The real test will be whether you are sweating at 3 months. In our practice, 90% of our patients require only a SINGLE miraDry session at Level 5 where we treat the entire area TWICE. This technique is safe and saves patients $1500. Ten percent will need a second session and 1% a third session.

Answer: Too early to tell I suggest waiting a minimum of 6-12 weeks to see your new baseline. At 3 months, I would assess your situation. You may have to discuss a second treatment. I would not be disappointed at this time.Best wishes,Dr. Ravi Somayazula
