Both of these lift techniques rely on something to hold the mid face in place. The idea is that after mobilization of the soft tissue the holding agent dissolves with the endotine technique and the tissue has healed in it’s new position. With a thread lift, the tissue is not mobilized and the threads actually hold the tissue in it’s new position by being barbed. The downside of the thread lift is that the threads may mobilize to the surface and “cheesewire” through to the skin creating a problem. A different kind of lift is a “Sasaki” mid face lift where Goretex threads and pledgets are used to lift the mid face in to a better position with no chance of working their way to the surface. In addition this can be done under local anesthesia and it has a lasting effect. It is the technique I favor
Both the endotine mid-facelift and thread lift will give modest improvements for only a short period of time. We have found in our practice that both of these lifts only give short term results and we do not perform either of them. There are many facelifts that you can consider that will give you far better and longer lasting results.
I actually don't think either procedure is any good. Most surgeons gave up thread lifts years ago. The endotine in and of itself is not so great either. A properly done conventional facelift is a better option. It's tried and true. You just need to find the right surgeon.
I would not advise a thread lift. Endotine is a ribbon which is wider and almost looks like plastic. Years ago when I tried the endotine, it broke during the recovery phase post op and needed a revision. I would advise consultation with a plastic surgeon for a facelift.
Endotine is a devise that hooks the flap tothe face to deeper tissues. The treat lift will anchor the tissues superficial todeep. Now I don’t know why do you ask the question but the mostimportant answer is the one that you surgeon will give you after analyzing your case
The Endotine device allows anchoring of the suture, it provides for greater suspension over a longer period of time than does the thread left. I have performed multiple facelifts only to find thread lift sutures laying in the tissues pulling on nothing. Woffles Wu of Singapore, the inventor of the thread lift technique, told me once that he never expects the thread lift to last more than 18 months.
In our practice, we do not perform a midface lift or use an endotine device or thread lifts. When patients are ready, a comprehensive face/neck lift accomplishes tightening loose facial/neck skin and muscles, tightening the jowls and removing fatty deposits in the neck. I have not used either of these procedures. I don't think they are a good idea. I urge you to do more research and I strongly urge you to find a plastic surgeon you trust with your health, and to make a permanent change in your appearance. The right plastic surgeon will listen to your goals and provide information about what approach will be best for you. Do not jump into surgery, instead, carefully research the credentials of any plastic sirgeon you are considering. Look at many, many before and after images as one way to determine you and your surgeons share an aesthetic ideal and for evidence that he can provide the kind of results you want.
They are both equally bad-I think the threads have been taken off the market. The endotines are small implantable hooks used to hold the tissue up. There have been problems with the resorption rate of the endotines and some have caused palpable bumps. The threads fail frequently.See a board certified plastic surgeon who is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and very experienced in facelift surgery.
I have had success using endotines in the mid face. They make several resorbable anchors, not just ribbons. A thread can cause unnatural pull. An experienced surgeon can improve the mid face with a facelift and fat grafting.
Alcohol can interfere with post operative pain medications and is dehydrating. These are the reason we don't want our patients to drink in the immediate perioperative period. Having a few the week before though should pose no problem. Cheers!
I have had several of my patients with this problem and also I have had numerous other patients from other physicians coming to my office for second opinion about this problem. These are the recommendations that I give to all patients.1. Glands can be removed partially, but it comes with a risk...
I typically schedule a complimentary facial for my patients two weeks after their surgery. This gives them enough time to get over any immediate discomfort and allows the absorbeable sutures to dissolve.
