Can I have a cocktail or two before my facelift?

I would not have a problem allowing my patients to drink a week in advance of surgery.  It is always best to touch base with your surgeon in case he or she prefers to have patients  avoid alcohol prior to surgery.

Alcohol can interfere with post operative pain medications and is dehydrating. These are the reason we don't want our patients to drink in the immediate perioperative period. Having a few the week before though should pose no problem. Cheers!

This type of modest alcohol consumption within one week of your surgery should not interfere with your surgery. The concern with alcohol consumption prior to surgery is that it can prohibit clotting that can lead to more bleeding, however again, one week prior to surgery and only a few drinks should not cause any issues.

Hello.  You should be fine drinking socially while on your vacation.  As long as you've stopped drinking a few days before your facelift, you should be fine.  Best wishes.

You should not have a problem having cocktails one week prior to your surgery. In general, it is a good idea to avoid alcohol for a couple of days prior to surgery. This can cause dehydration and affect anesthesia. If you have any questions regarding this, you should discuss this with your surgeon in case he or she is a different feeling about this.

The critical time to avoid alcohol is the week before surgery, particularly within 48 hours.Alcohol can thin the blood and inhibit its ability to clot.Conservative alcohol consumption prior to this should not affect your surgery- enjoy your mini vacation!

Hello.  Thank you for your question.  I typically advise my patients to avoid consumption of alcohol for 1 week prior to surgery.  It sounds like you will have plenty of time after you return home, prior to your procedure.  As always, drink responsibly and enjoy your vacation.  I hope this information is helpful.

I recommend patients refrain from all alcohol 1 week before surgery.  The reason why I recommend this is to ensure patients are in the best health for ideal recovery.Additionally, red wine is heart healthy and I believe slightly thins the blood before surgery.  If the blood is thin during surgery it can increase your chance of bruising and a possible hematoma.  If you are going to drink before surgery, I would choose something else other than red wine.I hope this helps.
