I’m 11 days post op and while slowly weening off Advil have noticed my breasts are feeling very sore, almost like a sunburnt feeling. Is this a normal sensation? I know they are still swollen as I can feel it but it hurts. They also seem firmer, which I’m guessing could be swelling?
Answer: Tender to the touch Dear Jasmino,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Common It is common to experience changes in sensation after surgery, while you’re recovering. Tenderness, some soreness and hypersensitivity are not unusual. Swelling is also common, and is most likely contributing to the firmness and to these sensory changes. If you’re very concerned, i’s a good idea to discuss this with your surgeon.

Answer: Tender brasts after augmentation Eleven days after surgery, there is still a great deal of swelling present. The breasts will feel firm, and typically are still tender to touch . There may areas of the skin that exhibit unusal sensations, such burning, tingling, or numbness. All of these changes usually resovle within several months. In our practice , we have our patients begin massaging the breasts at one week postop, and feel this helps reduce the swelling and soreness. Antiinflammatories are also helpful. Ask your surgeon for guidlines on addressing the problem.

Answer: Breast Augmentation Recovery Jasmino. I appreciate your concerns but way too early to worry. Your body needs time to heal and adapt to the implants. The skin and muscle over the implants must stretch a bit to allow the implants to settle into their final position. While your appearance will improve fairly quickly, don't expect to see your final result for at least 6 months after surgery. However, if you have a fever or the condition does not improve over the next several days, you should see your plastic surgeon. Good Luck!
