2 weeks post op, what can be done to assist my body in absorbing air and fluid after breast augmentation?

Thank you for your question.  The air around the implant will resorb over time.  The fluid will also be resorbed by the body, but to varying degrees.  The surgery itself causes some trauma to the tissue and just like when you scrape your knee, that serous (clear) fluid develops.  I would recommend you discuss with your plastic surgeon this concern as it may need to be addressed if it doesn't fully resolve naturally in the post-op period.  Best wishes!

The air that may be in the cavity where the implant was placed will absorb over time and there is nothing you can do to speed up this process.  Fluid, however, sometimes will remain and may need to be addressed.  Ask your plastic surgeon and good luck

Dear mkmcknight,every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. After BA there can be a small amount of fluid in breasts caused by irrigation during the surgery. However, larger amounts of fluid can be caused by seroma. Daniel Barrett, MD
