I just saw my doctor two days ago to get my stitches removed. He did not seem concerned about the red marks above the incision on my left breast. He called it a bruise and said it would probably go away. I would like some more opinions on it. Is it a bruise? Could it be a stretch marks? Why is it still red after 3 weeks? How can I get it to go away as quickly as possible?
Answer: Redness I wouldn't be too concerned since it is still early. I recommend arnica and minimize alcohol. I also recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified, Double Fellowship-Trained Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Bruises Thank you for your question. It looks to be a bruise under the breast but without an in person evaluation difficult to say for sure. Bruises can sometimes take a few weeks to completely go away. I would recommend following your surgeons recommendations and following up with them. Best of luck to you.
