Dr. Stevenson is a board certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon who was born and reared in Columbus, OH. She is grateful for the unique educational foundation she received from the Columbus Public Schools and the Columbus School for Girls. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hampton University with a degree in Biology and earned her medical doctorate at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. After completion of her medical education, she completed a rigorous plastic surgery residency at Penn State Hershey and was the first African-American to graduate from the distinguished program.
Dr. Stevenson is absolutely the best surgeon I could have asked for to do my breast reduction surgery. I have been struggling with chronic back pain for over 20 years. Last year my pain was so bad that I went to see an Ortho Surgeon to consult about back surgery. He recommended a breast reduction first to see if we could eliviate the pain that I had been experiencing. My Neurologist also recommended a breast reduction to assist with reducing my headaches. After battling the insurance for months, I paid out of pocket for my consult with Dr. Stevenson and I immediately felt at ease. Dr. Stevenson never made me feel judged or "crazy." She acknowledged all of my concerns and immediately explained the procedures. She made me feel completely at ease. Once insurance got everything figured out we proceeded with the surgery in Jan. Needles to say I went into this surgery well informed, no fear, and even the morning of, when she was marking where the incisions would be, Dr. Stevenson made it feel completely effortless and left me with no worries of her competency and care. After surgery she spoke with my husband and later that evening she even called to check on me personally. Every experience with Dr. Stevenson has been amazing and if I plan to have any future cosmetic surgery of any kind I will always go to Dr. Stevenson first.
Dr. Stevenson and her staff were amazing. Kind, professional, and so supportive! I had all my questions answered in detail, never felt rushed. Dr. Stevenson is an advocate for women, and understands we are not a one size fits all. She listened to me and worked with my insurance to make sure my needs were met. I had a medically necessary breast reduction, but it has also done wonders for my self esteem. The results are AMAZING! I have and will continue to refer people to Cardinal Plastic Surgery!
Absolutely wonderful experience!! Wonderful office & Dr. Stevenson is kind and has a gentle technique. I Highly recommend!! This is my second visit :) Thank you for being welcoming. I am looking forward to my next visit.
Personally, I had the greatest experience with Dr. Stevenson and her staff. they were kind and supportive. I felt like they really cared and everyone I came in contact with was kind to me. Dr. Stevenson was the best and I tell everyone how her surgical skills changed my life forever! I look great and feel great! she deserves 6 stars in my book!
Very friendly, knowledgeable, down to earth, easy to talk to, used language normal people would understand, and caring. Answered all my questions and gave me the options of surgery that would give me the best outcomes of what I was looking for.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Dr. Stevenson checked every single one of my boxes and then some. I've been planning to get a breast reduction for over a decade. Life got in the way, then motherhood intervened a couple times, and it kept getting pushed to the back burner. Well this year I decided to prioritize me. We even had some hiccups (no fault of the doc of course) but she worked it out and made sure my safety was priority. I genuinely felt like I was in great hands the entire process. I can't thank her enough for giving me a much better quality of life. No more back, shoulder, and neck pain. The only thing I regret is not finding her sooner. She's an amazing surgeon with an amazing team behind her.
Dr. Stevenson and her outstanding team made my journey through a tummy tuck procedure nothing short of exceptional. From the very first consultation to the attentive post-operative care, every aspect of the process was executed with a blend of professionalism and genuine compassion. Dr. Stevenson's mastery of her craft and meticulous attention to detail immediately put me at ease, instilling a sense of confidence from the outset. Moreover, the warmth and unwavering support from her team (thanks Deanna!!!) ensured that every step of the way felt smooth and comforting. I am profoundly grateful for the extraordinary level of care they provided, which not only facilitated a successful procedure but also led to transformative results that have profoundly impacted my life.
I truly appreciated how special and personal my care was from Dr. Stevenson. She is truly a blessing to her patients, and I am forever grateful to be one of hers! The genuine nature of her care is exceptional and you can tell she loves her job! She and her office staff made the entire process so easy, everyone was friendly and patient, and I never felt rushed. My results are exactly what I had hoped for! I will always recommend her to anyone who is looking for a plastic surgeon!
I first met Dr. Julia Stevenson the team on May 22, 2023. They have great energy and are very professional. I recieved my abdominoplasty on October 30, 2023. I had no concerns going into surgery as all of my questions had been answered on my preoperative office visits. Postoperative the team has been hreat as well with my follow-up care. I would highly recommend Dr. Stevenson. She did an amazing job and is very compassionate about your well being.
Dr. Stevenson and the CPS staff have been AMAZING during my pre and post op care and my surgery went smoothly! I had been trying to get a breast reduction for YEARS and they walked me through all of my medical history and the criteria I met that my insurance approved it in DAYS. I’m so grateful that as a Black Woman, Dr Stevenson also understood my concerns with surgery and scarring — she and Deanna answered my millions of questions and emails with grace. I’m so grateful for Cardinal Plastic Surgery!
Thank you for your question! Your concerns are completely understandable. Without knowing how your presurgical abdomen appeared, it is not unreasonable to believe perhaps your surgical issue required more than one procedure for safe correction. The umbilicus appears to be close to the correct location and perhaps the scar may be slightly high. The contouring of the fat along the scar is what makes it more noticeable. Liposuctioning of the upper/lower abdomen and flanks would help with the appearance of the upper abdomen and the prominence of the abdominal scar. Scar revision with better alignment of the fat near the scar may also help improve the transition from the lower abdomen to the pubic region. Wishing you the best!
Thank you for your questions! You are an ideal candidate for liposuction of the abdomen. Liposuction is for the stubborn areas that do not change even with a healthy lifestyle and diet. With liposuctioning, better contouring of the abdomen and flanks can be done for improved appearance. The noninvasive methods for fat reduction aren't necessarily consistent for everyone.
Thank you for your question and sharing your desires regarding preoperative imaging. Patient autonomy is important and as long as you are informed of the risks of not undergoing preoperative imaging and accept those risks, it is okay to forgo imaging. For a more thorough answer, during your consultation, a breast exam should be performed to be sure there are no obvious masses that should be further investigated. For my clinical practice, I only recommend imaging if a patient is due for it to stay on their routine screening regimen. That is a good way of knowing that if anything has changed in imaging and their preoperative imaging is normal, any changes are due to surgical scarring. Again, I do that for routine monitoring and because I don't like surprises in the operating room! As long as you and your surgeon have discussed this and you are accepting the risks, it should be okay.
Thank you for this question & for sharing a bit of your surgical history. You may be a good candidate for a mommy makeover, however, there is more information your surgeon would need to obtain both from your medical history and physical exam such as any other abdominal surgeries and subsequent hernia formation. The history of abdominal surgery does increase your risks of wound healing issues, circulation issues to the soft tissue and potential need for other procedures to address hernias if they are present. Regarding your breasts, you would be a great candidate for either a breast reduction or lift depending on whether you were wanting to decrease the size of your breasts or just decreasing the areola and lifting them. I wish you all the best!
Thank you for asking this question. With any surgery, scar tissue and changes in blood supply to the tissue occurs. The more surgeries, the more the scar tissue formation and the risks of wound healing issues and subsequent breast deformities i.e. nipple necrosis, fat necrosis, etc.). There are several factors related risks regarding your multiple surgeries: surgical technique used, reason for recurrent drooping, related complications to previous surgeries, your overall health. Discuss this with your surgeon or even seek a second opinion to get a better idea of what has led to needing more breast lifts. I wish you all the best in your treatments!
