The description of liposuction areas will vary a bit among different surgeons. I consider the abdomen as the entire front of the belly from the rib cage down to the pubis. What most surgeons call the 'waist' I call 'flanks'. Most of the time, the abdomen and flanks are done together, which gives a nice contouring and shape.
Thank you for your question. Typically, when one speaks about abdominal liposuction, one can refer to upper and/or lower abdomen because its specifically dependent on what the patient needs. I would suggest you see a plastic surgeon who can evaluate your needs and suggest the areas that she/he reccomends. Good luck. Best wishes, Dr. Suzette Miranda
Every board-certified dermatologist may divide and treat the abdominal region differently, and which areas get treated will vary by patient. In general, the abdomen is divided into 4 separate areas: upper (above navel), lower (below havel), left flank (more or less the “love handle” area) and right flank. If you are interested in permanently eliminating fat from your abdomen, you may be treated in all four quadrants, or just one. What you need, what will be done, and how you will be charged are all questions that should arise during your face-to-face consultations with board-certified dermatologists as you try to find the right person to treat you. You may also want to consider noninvasive fat-elimination techniques, such as Vanquish, CoolSculpting and ThermiTight. Please be sure to bring all of your questions with you when you consult a board-certified dermatologist.
It can get very confusing to sort all of the information about liposuction. The best answer is that it depends on the discussion between you and your surgeon. In my office, the abdomen includes the areas above and below the belly button. However, the procedure may include both areas, the upper or the lower. That is dependent on the goals of the patient. The pricing differs for each.Sounds like you need a consult to better define your goals and the options available to you to reach them!In good health,Ellen Mahony, MD
Liposuction is a body contouring procedure that removes fat under the skin to address trouble spots throughout the body. Although the specifics of the procedure are patient tailored, in my practice abdominal liposuction is usually performed across the entire abdomen to encourage a smooth post-operative contour. Depending on the patient, this may also include the sides (flanks) and love handles (waist). See the link below for more information. The ideal candidates are patients that have good quality, elastic skin who are targeting stubborn areas resistant to diet and exercise. A detailed examination will help delineate the best surgical treatment. Consultation with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery would be the next best step.
I would ask your surgeon as this may differ from office to office. When I say abdomen, I mean upper and lower.
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. It really depends on what areas you would benefit from liposuction. It can include the flanks, upper and lower abdomen. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The mostimportant aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommendthat you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon whocan evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Each doctor is different, and so you have to ask your doctor what it means specifically in his practice.
In my practice, abdominal liposuction includes the upper abdomen, lower abdomen, and anterior flanks. A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is necessary to review your desires (history), your needs (exam), and all of your options. Best wishes!
Every liposuction should be tailored to individual needs. Typically, either the lower abdomen or both lower and upper are suctioned in a procedure and, depending on the patient, the flanks may be included as well.
Hollywood has always been confidential is regards to their cosmetic treatments. For someone that does not have enough fat to harvest Sculptra is a great alternative. Sculptra is Poly-L- Lactic Acid injections, designed to treat hallow cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, and as of recently buttock...
Thanks for the question. After a week your surgery area is totally healed and yes you can do gym and also do other activities. I wish you all the best.
Be careful with liposuction in this area, as it is the worst healing part of the body. Lipsuction of the calves and ankles must be performed very carefully, but a board certified plastic surgeon with a lot of experience in this area.
