Hello Docs i had a tummy tuck 6 years ago and my belly button is a deep hole so i cant see in it but its oozing puss and now when i clean it blood comes out on q-tip. Is this a serious concern and what can i do? i have no money to pay to see a surgeon I have went to see my pcp doctor 3× and he said there is nothing to worry about.
Answer: Oozing pus is not normal It is possible you have an epidermal inclusion cyst due to abnormal healing. This generally fills with white material that oozes out when pressure is applied. This will likely not resolve on its own. The treatment is excision of the cyst, which can be done in clinic under local anesthesia. I would not ignore this issue, as It is possible to develop a deep infection if permanent materials such as mesh were used in your surgery.

Answer: Oozing from belly button Dear dimplez27, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Concerns About Oozing and Bleeding from Belly Button Years after Tummy Tuck Dear dimplez27, Thanks for your question. It's concerning to hear about oozing and bleeding from your belly button, especially years after having a tummy tuck. While it's reassuring that your primary care physician doesn't see any immediate cause for concern, persistent symptoms like this shouldn't be overlooked. Though I understand your financial constraints, it's still important to have this properly evaluated by a board-certified plastic surgeon. Some hospitals and clinics offer reduced-cost or free consultations, and it might be worthwhile to explore these options in your area. Infections, cysts, or even hernias can cause the symptoms you're describing. If left untreated, these could potentially lead to serious complications. Additionally, certain wound care measures might be needed to assist healing. In the meantime, keep the area clean and dry. Use a gentle, non-alcoholic cleanser and avoid picking or probing the area. Should the symptoms worsen, or if you experience severe pain, fever, or spreading redness, seek immediate medical attention. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Belly button You may have irritated your belly button by probing in it with a Q tip. Its stalk goes all the way down behind your abdominal muscles. Stop probing it, but rinse it out gently with diluted Betaine solution with a syringe.
