Hi, I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. No, Voluma is not typically recommended for lips. Voluma is dense and is typically used in the cheeks.
Voluma is a hyaluronic acid-based filler that’s used to add volume to the face and create temporary cheekbone and chin augmentations. Voluma is not appropriate to the lips because it’s too hard and would look unnatural. I believe you are thinking of Volbella. Volbella is in the Juvederm family, too, but is a very thin, soft, and subtle filler that creates really lovely and natural-looking and -feeling pouts. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert at using Volbella for lip augmentations.
Juviderm Voluma is a wonderful product to enhance cheek bones and frame the face. With that said, it is injected deep, right on top of bone. It would never be indicated for lip enhancement . Juviderm portofolio of products does have other wonderful fillers for the lip like Juviderm Ultra XC,Vollure and Volbella. Your practitioner should be able to explain each one to you and help you chose the best one for you. Hope this helps..
Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately Voluma would not provide either a natural looking or feeling pout as the gel is very thick. Instead I would counsel you to try Vollure, which is made by the same company, Allergan. Hope this helps.
Hi, thank you for your question! I do not recommend Voluma for the lips. There is a higher risk for formation of filler bumps due to the thickness of the filler. Fillers that I recommend for the lips would be Vollure, Volbella, Juvederm XC and Ultraplus. I would recommend having an in person consultation with a certified injector.
Voluma is a hard lifting product which is better used in the cheek. Softer more flexible products like Juvederm ultra plus or Volbella are better for the lips. Always seek treatment from a qualified physician.
Voluma is a wonderful, long lasting filler for cheeks/ mid face but not for the lips. It's very heavy. A smaller particle filler like Restylane is perfect for the lips because its more fluid, smoother and lighter. Great for areas of movement like lips and nasal labial folds.
I thought, when it came out, that Voluma would be good for lips because it lasts so much longer, however, this is not the case. It is much too dense and does not do a great job. In my experience, Volbella does an amazing job in the lip area -- the results are there but look very natural.
Thank you for your question. You could use Voluma but I would recommend using Juvederm Volbella or Restylane for your lips. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.
Hello,NO Voluma is too heavy, you will not be happy with results. Please use softer product for lips since Voluma is too heavy, hope that helps, Dr Violetta Mailyan.
Hi @sandramccarthy. I'm sorry you are dealing will this complication. However, the filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase injections and this should resolve the problem. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
Proper injection technique for Voluma requires that it be injected deeply into the skin, just above the bone. The needle doesn’t actually go into your cheekbone, however. Voluma in the cheekbones provides a nice lift to your face. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who’s an exp...
Hi @tonyadupree! You can gently apply ice to help with swelling and discomfort after filler injections. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
