Scared I have symmastia after breast augmentation? (Photos)

Thank you for the question and photos. It does not appear that you have symmastia from reviewing your photos. It takes about 3-6 months for swelling to subside and implants to settle down. It is best to contact your board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.

vegaslychee. I appreciate your concern, however your photos do not demonstrate synmastia and your overall results and situation will improve as all swelling resolves and implants settle in. Try to stay patient and follow up with your plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Hello!  Thank you for your question!   While you are still early in the postop period, there is still some swelling and settling to occur.  It does not appear that you have synmastia on your submitted photos, but an in-person examination would help. Discuss with your surgeon your concerns. Examination would be performed and the only thing that could be done now that may potentially help may be certain bras. Best wishes!

Symmastia means that the two pockets are confluent in the midline. That is the pockets connect. It does not appear to be the case. I would discuss with your Surgeon during normal business hours. Every Surgeon has their own technique for adjusting the cleavage in the early post-op period.

At this point in your recovery, it is much too soon to be worried about the outcome.  It takes time for the implants to settle into position and the skin and muscle to stretch out to accommodate the new implant.  It may be 6 months or more before the shape has reached its final look.  Be patient.

Without examining you in person I can never be 100% sure but the photos do not show any evidence of symmastia. You have a great result and while your breasts are certainly close together, that just seems to be your anatomy. It looks like they were pretty close together pre-op as well. I'd suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to be examined if you are really worried so they can reassure you based on an in-person examination. Hope that helps! 

Dear vegaslychee,symmastia is a rare breast condition that occurs when soft web-like breast tissue pulls breast implants towards each other, until the breasts meet uncomfortably at the center of the chest near the sternum (the body’s midline point). Given this abnormal union, symmastia is known by many other names, including breadloafing, kissing breast implants, and the uniboob.Unfortunately, this condition causes the surrounding skin and pectoral muscles to literally lift off the breast bone as the implants are pulled together. This consequently causes pain and discomfort, as well as obvious distortion of the breasts, which can only be disguised with clothing that does not show cleavage.You should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for proper assessment. vegaslychee Hi There , Thank You for Your Question . .you shouldn't  expected your final results  within 3 months as there is still some swelling and settling to occur , I don't think you have symmastia , but you should be examine by your PS in this case he is the only one who knows your medical history and can help you with concerns .
