There is no specific nutrition plan that has to be followed after a mommy makeover, however, we do recommend that you eat healthy and exercise regularly both before and after surgery. The healthier you are going into a surgery means the healthier you are coming out of one. I also tend to find that my mommy makeover patients usually become more active and start eating healthier after surgery because they are more encouraged and want to maintain their new look.
Keyfactors in the healing of any wound are nutrition and vitamin supplements. There are specially formulated vitamins that are designed to optimizeyour healing that we use from Vitamedica. In addition, we use Arnica andBromelian to reduce the swelling and bruising. Before and after surgery, nutrition is a key component that is overlooked by almost every patient andsurgeon. After the operation, your calorie and protein requirements areincreased. We design a nutritional regimen for each patient which isprovided to them during the preoperative teaching. In order to meet thecalorie and protein requirements after surgery, the patients typicallysupplement using protein shakes. Calorie and protein intake are recordedon a log that we provide and review at the postoperative visits. Thecombination of homeopathic medicines, vitamins supplementation, and adequatecalorie and protein intake are critical to the wound healing process. Prior to surgery, we ask the patients to stop all of their ownsupplements as some can cause problems with bleeding during and after surgery.
Hello and thank you for your question.Increasing your protein intake is a good idea as your body needs protein to heal. Also, remember that narcotic pain medications can cause constipation, so eating foods with higher fiber content is also helpful.Wishing you a speedy recovery.Dr. Vath

Eat non-constipating nutritious food (as tolerated) after surgery. Adequate fluidsare important following surgery especially the first few days. Stick to non-carbonated,non-alcoholic, caffeine-free and green tea-free beverages – such as Gatorade and water– for thefirst 3 days. Ideally you should consume at least 8 ounces of fluid every 2 hours. Stick to a dietof soft, bland, nutritious food for the first 24 hours. Prevention of constipation is important.
A normal, balanced diet is what you should shoot for. One thing I see in my practice is that after a tummy tuck, patients have very little appetite for the first week or two. If this is the case, they should pay particular attention to get the calories they need to heal these large surgical sites. Your calorie requirement is much greater after surgery then it would be for your regular daily routine.
Thanks for your question. Optimal diet after most surgeries include low fat, high protein, healthy eating that helps with wound healing. Supplements such as Vit C and antioxidants would be beneficial too. hope this helps...best of luck!

A healthy whole food diet that is high in protein and vegetables is a good plan. There is no standardized diet recommended following surgery but we do know that protein plays an important role. Check with your plastic surgeon to discuss your optimal nutrition plan. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. It is best to eat a healthy diet, high in protein and green leafy vegetables. Please discuss your specific concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps!
