Is it safe to shower/wash your surgical areas with water in DR?

Question

Is it safe to shower/wash your surgical areas with the water in the DR? I know that the water isn't safe to drink, so it seems that it wouldn't be safe to wash surgical areas. I was hoping someone from DR would have an answer and what the usual protocol is for bathing post-op. Thank you.

It is best to use bottled water , not only in DR but every where in the first 10 days after surgery. Best of luck

I always ask my patients to not use our tab water for a week, you are completely right, if you cant drink it how can you use it in a wound. Get bottle water for your bath and use saline for cleaning the wound.Best of luck,
