In its most basic description, chin liposuction entails removing only the fat in the area directly under the chin. The overlying skin then adheres to the new contour as determined by the underlying muscle. Therefore, neither skin nor muscle tightening (platysmaplasty) is performed. In a neck lift, chin liposuction is usually performed, however, the underlying muscle is addressed as well via internal tightening sutures (stitches). If the muscle tightening is only performed under the chin, and no surgery is performed from the sides of the face (ie around and behind the ear), then this can be called a "submentoplasty" and/or "platysmaplasty". When the muscle and skin are tightened from behind the ears (with our without surgery under the chin), most surgeons would call this a "neck lift". Generally speaking, isolated chin liposuction is reserved for younger patients with tighter healthy skin. Once the skin and muscle start to lose their tone, then typically a more comprehensive neck lift is suggested. Depending on the skill and preference of your surgeon, both chin liposuction and a neck lift can be performed under local anesthesia in an office setting. Hope this helps clarify for you. Best, Doc L.
Liposuction gets rid of the fat along the jawline and under the chin as well as helps shrink the skin alittle. The neck lift cuts away the fat and excess skin and tightens it up more dramatically. Both are done under local and are easy to undergo.
Neck liposuction involves removing some of the fat from under the chin whereas neck lift surgery involves tightening the neck muscles in some way. Sometime both liposuction and neck lift are done at the same time. You can learn more about neck liposuction at my web reference link below.
Neck liposuction involves liposculpting of superficial fat in the neck. It is very efficient in young patients with deposits of fat over the neck muscles without muscle deformity (muscle bands). It includes contouring of jawline as well. Procedure is done using 1-3 small incisions underneath the chin and behind earlobe. Neck lift is procedure that in most cases involves neck liposuction plus adjustment of neck muscles (platysma, dygastric muscles) and deep fat compartment underneath platysma muscles. In same cases it also involves removal of redundant skin in front and behind the ear. Good luck.
Liposuction of the fat beneath the chin is a fairly minor procedure that uses small incisions to remove fat above the platysma muscle. It is useful if there is fat but minimal excess skin. In my practice, a neck lift is a more extensive surgery performed for excess skin in the neck. A neck lift involves skin undermining and excision of skin, and tightening of the platysma muscle, often through incisions beneath the chin and sometimes also in front of the ear. Depending on the needs of the patient, it may also include fat removal under direct vision during the surgery.
Thank you for sharing your question. Liposuction is a procedure aimed at reducing the amount of fat present along the jawline and “double-chin” region alone. This is not the procedure for skin excess, laxity, or muscle separation. In this case a necklift is employed for the best outcome. Hope this helps.
Chin liposuction is an excellent option for contouring the neck and submental skin and can be performed in selected younger patients in the office under local anesthesia with minimal downtime. Ideally, patient's with excellent skin elasticity and minimal bunching/jowling of skin do best with submental liposuction.A neck lift is typically a procedure involving tightening of neck musculature, and removal of excess skin which is often combined with fat removal or liposuction at the same time. Sometimes, A neck lift is combined with a facelift to tighten the muscles laterally as well. Both a neck lift and a chin liposuction procedure involving a submental or chin incision, although inadequate usually uses a longer incision. Both procedures can be performed safely in the office or in the operating room under local anesthetic or with sedation.Other options include selectively lipolysis using injected medications such as Kybella or Cool Sculpting. It seems like these may be excellent options for you and be sure to discuss this in consultation with a specialist. Best of luck to you!
Liposuction in the chin simply removes the pauses above the potential muscle. A neck lift procedure involves removing the fatty deposits underneath the platysma muscle surgery, and then performing a platysma plasty to further define the neck. In our practice, a necklift does not involve any skin removal. A lower face and neck lift is performed when there's loose and inelastic skin in the neck.
Chin ljposuction, while a term commonly used, is a misnomer. The chin is actually not treated by liposuction but the area under the chin is, better known as submental liposuction. The term necklift is an interchangeable name with that of a lower facelift. While a lower facelift will often include submental liposuction as part of the procedure, it is a more comprehensive approach to reshaping the neck that also treats lax muscle and loose skin.
Thanks for writing,I would bet you mean neck liposuction not chin liposuction . Based on that, liposuction under the chin there is usually a well isolated fat pocket and most importantly the skin quality, especially elasticity, is good. Neck lifting is done when the skin quality is poor and therefore the excess skin has to be pulled up and back behind the ears with the excess skin being cut off. I hope this helps.
