BMI does not play a huge role in chin liposuction procedural decision-making, other than deciding the type of anesthesia. If a patient is very overweight, they may not be healthy enough for elective cosmetic surgical procedures like neck liposuction under anesthesia. In my practice, I commonly perform neck liposuction with a combination of oral sedation and local anesthesia, with patients remaining very comfortable throughout. More important than general BMI is the patient's neck anatomy. If there is a tremendous amount of neck adipose (fatty) tissue, then there may be sagging skin after neck liposuction. If the patient is older, there may not be enough skin elasticity to get a good cosmetic result. If there are platysmal muscle bands, they may need to be addressed with a platysmaplasty or neck lift. There are many factors that play a role. Be sure to see an expert who specializes in facial aesthetic procedures to review all of the options in detail.Best,
