Why would Xeomin start wearing off after 14 days if it was already working? (Photo)

I had injdone almost 3 wks ago. After 3 days I had very little movement in forehead & brows. I was thrilled. day 14 I started seeing wrinkles deepen again. day 16 can easily raise brows & crinkle/wrinkle forehead and nose. I had 50 units by RN injector. Calld office was tolds I "didn't get enough,should get more." I dont want to pay $500 & have same results. Also told. "MAY only lasts a few wks." No one told me that before & I had 3 consults. So is it true??

Xeomin is one of 3 currently FDA approved drugs for the relaxation of upper face wrinkles. (the other two being Botox and Dysport).  In our experience, it works as well as the others. Most patients see it begin to work at about 3 days after injection, peak at about 3 weeks and last about 3 months.

HiPersonally, I prefer Dysport to the other two products, and you may want to try that.however, xeomin is a good product.  perhaps you need more units, althougth 50 is very reasonable. share your concerns with your provider.

Xeomin should last roughtly 3 months and begin working 10-14 days after injection.  If it did not, speak to your physician either you need more dosage or you need another neuromodulator (dysport or botox).  Best, Dr. Emer.

Yeoman typical last about 3-4 months.  Sometimes it lasts longer.  Since your treatment results were ultra short you should ask the nurse injection what is the dilution she is using.  Typical is 5 units per 0.1 cc.

In my experience Xeomin and Botox work the same. It's possible the Xeomin was diluted too much, or your just metabolize neurotoxin quickly. I would recommend getting a second opinion with a reputable injector.

Having 50 units of Xeomin wear off a forehead in 3 weeks seems unusual, but I have seen patients where Botox has worked on their foreheads and Xeomin has not.  I cannot explain why this would be.  I think your best bet is to call your injector, and probably go in so they can examine how much movement you've got when it is only 3-4 weeks after a treatment.   If you are purposely moving your forehead... moving your eyebrows up and down... then you will cause the effects of Xeomin/Botox/Dysport to go away much faster.  If you can't get a satisfactory answer from your current injector's office, then perhaps you should try a different office and injector.

That is very unusual.  Xeomin, reconstituted and injected properly, typically works at least as well as Botox (when Botox is working at its best!)  Report it to your injector.  You should likely get some more, freshly and correctly prepared, and then monitor the effectiveness.As someone with more than 20 years of experience injecting botulinum toxin products, what you describe is very odd, indeed.It typically lasts 3-4 months.  People who work out a lot tend to have botulinum products and hyaluronic products (fillers like Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero, Voluma, and Lyft) wear off closer to 3 months.

In my experience, Xeomin works well as a slightly less expensive alternative to Botox.  I have many patients who have switched to Xeomin and are very happy with the results.  It certainly is not typical for results to start wearing off after two weeks.  I would go back to see your injector.  If you're not satisfied, it's easy enough to find another injector.

There is no reason to switch to Dysport or Botox as they are all essentially the same. You need to discuss this with your doctor and be sure the does is sufficient and that it is not old. also, you should be seeing a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon

There are several possibilities - including that Xeomin requires slightly different preparation than does Botox (some of the precipitate may be under the cap and therefore the reconstitution has to take that into consideration).  If your plastic surgeon is not experienced in this, then that could explain it.However, either way, you should meet with your PS and discuss your concerns.
