Uneven Lip filler, what do I do? (Photos)

Question

I got juverderm lip fillers yesterday, and they are soo uneven and lumpy especially on the top sides of the lip. Do I need to massage them or will they even out over time? Definitely feel the two lumps with my tongue =o

I would say to eft the swelling subside about 7-10 days is what i say to my patients, if after this there are some lumps make a follow up appt. to see your injector again, lumps can form and this is common, gentle massage would be helpful.

You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. Final results with lip augmentation takes 1-2 weeks as swelling resolves. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

This could be swelling from your injection so you should ice and wait 2 weeks to re-asses with your injector.

Thank you for your question. It is advisable to avoid any NSAID’s before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising and swelling. It is common to have some swelling after fillers for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. Following lip augmentation using dermal fillers, swelling is very common, and can often lead to an uneven lip appearance. Oftentimes, it can take two weeks or longer for the swelling to completely go down, so patience is key. If swelling has completely faded and the lips are still uneven or lumpy, it's best to consult your treatment provider for a reevaluation or get a second opinion. Best of luck!

question.  Unevenness and swelling after
lip injections is not uncommon.  Lips are
highly vascularized and it may take some time for the swelling and unevenness
to resolve. It would be best to wait two weeks before having another evaluation
or before having anything else injected. 
Icing the areas may help to reduce the swelling but the positive effects
of icing tend to diminish 48 hours after injection.  If, after two weeks, you still notice
unevenness and can still feel the lumps, you should consult with your
injector.  Optimal results are often
achieved if you seek the care of a board certified dermatologist or plastic
surgeon who has extensive training and experience in this field as they fully
understand the facial anatomy and the artful placement of the filler.

Since you just had your lip filler done, I would attribute alot of the unevenness to swelling, which can take up to two weeks to completely resolve. If you feel lumps in certain areas, gentle massage to the areas will help to resolve those faster. I would wait two weeks for all swelling to resolve and bruising to fade before you determine the final outcome of your filler.

Swelling and bruising are common after lip injections and can last up to two weeks.   Gentle massaging of the area may help to even the area out some.  If after two weeks you still feel there is asymmetry return to your injector for an evaluation and to formulate a treatment plan.

Lip augmentation is a procedure where filler is injected into the lips to increase volume and enhance the borders of the lips. Just by poking the lips with the needle causes swelling.
  
The reactive swelling goes down in the first 2 days. Then it takes 2 weeks for the filler to absorb water and reach your final result. Bruising may delay the result further. Before that point, it's too early to evaluate your outcome and you end up chasing your tail by touching up prematurely. 
  
Patience is virtue. Don't rush into adding more filler or dissolving with hyaluronidase. Make sure you follow-up with your doctor so they can track your progress to a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.
