My doctor told me not to pay in full because i have Crohn’s disease, it’s been in remission for 2 years. He said i would be more likely to need blood thinners and more apt to DVT’s he didn’t want me as a PT. My Crohn’s doctor told said i was fine to have the surgery so I’m so baffled as to why he turned me down. Will having Crohn’s prevent me from healing or having a mommy makeover??? no other illnessI want breast aug and tummy tuck.

Answer: Can have MM with inactive Crohn's. There is no reason you couldn't have your MM as long as your Crohn's is inactive and your medical doctor gives the go ahead. Do consider that you are at slightly higher risk due to the Crohn's but these issues should be easy to managed with a proper post operative protocol for ambulation and antibiotic coverage. Contact ASPS for a list of board certified plastic surgeons in your area who could confidently mange your wishes. Best wishes,

Answer: Risk reduction Thank you for your question as no doubt there are other patients out there with your same situation. Crohn's disease is not an absolute contraindication to surgery however it generally carries an increased risk of complications especially if you take immune modulating medications. In elective cosmetic surgery there is a need to be conservative to minimize complications. You must understand your increased risks and have a long discussion with a board certified plastic surgeon. Just because we can do surgery does not always mean we should. This is between you and your surgeon to decide.
