I like the look of Voluma, but do not want to loosen the underlying facial tissues in the midface, so have hesitations about getting it before I am older and really need it.

Answer: Small Space Voluma which is placed in the deep tissue just above the bone. Because it is placed between two areas subcutaneous tissue and periosteum in theory some space is created. However, the voluma loses its volume gradually over time. As a result of the gradual loss of Voluma, clinically we don't see resulting dead space.
