with an active staph infection in and around my nose will the volume injections that I received have a chance of spreading the infection?
Answer: Voluma injections Thank you for your question. You are at an increased risk for infection if your skin had bacteria on it while being injected. The needle has to go through the bacteria on the skin into the skin for each injection. If your injector prepped the skin appropriately this decreases the skin for spreading the infection, but the risk is still there. As long as you are already on oral antibiotics, you should be fine.

Answer: Misdiagnosed dermatitis - turned out to be staph infection. Will Voluma injections spread it? Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your staph infection. Hopefully you have started on antibiotics and your tissues are healing quickly. Because of the distance from the infection to the location of your Voluma it is unlikely that an infection will spread or colonize. Be sure to stay vigilant on your symptoms and alert your injector for any worsening.

Answer: Voluma and Staph Infections Thank you for your question. In general, it is best to avoid any filler injections while you have an active infection on your face. Injecting fillers in the setting of an active skin infection increases the risk of the filler itself becoming contaminated with bacteria. That said, Voluma is most often injected in the cheeks, and it is somewhat unlikely that an infection around your nose would impact your treatment. I would still recommend that you monitor the treated area closely, and contact your injector in case you develop any redness, swelling, pain, or other concerning symptoms.

Answer: Voluma and risk of infection It is very unlikely if you have infection around the nose, because Voluma is injected up on the cheeks and away from the nose. Observe yourself, and contact your injector if you notice any redness or swelling.

Answer: Voluma injections and skin infection It is never a good idea to have fillers or any other injections while your face has an active infection. With that said the physician who injected your face should have noticed you had an active infection. At this point you might be already on antibiotics so hopefully you will not have any complications. I can never stress enough the importance of having any procedure or fillers by an experienced physician and always in a medical setting.
