I have heard that hyaluronic fillers help skin quality because they stimulate collagen. However, if done correctly in the cheeks, Voluma is injected at the level of the periosteum, so it seems it would be below the muscle layer and placed too deeply to even affect the dermis. Can it have any helpful effect on the skin?
Answer: HA fillers don't stimulate collagen production. JUVÉDERM Voluma® and other HA fillers are intended to work by directly adding volume, while other fillers (most notably Sculptra®) are intended to work by promoting collagen production that then augments the filler. For this reason, JUVÉDERM is ideal for those who want to see results faster, and Sculptra typically is better for those who don't mind waiting for longer-lasting results.

Answer: Voluma Thank you for your question. Voluma is a hyaluronic acid which is a moisturizer found naturally in your body and works by replenishing the natural moisture in your skin restoring structure, volume and softer contours to the face. It does not stimulate collagen. Dermal fillers like Sculptra causes your body to produce its own filler. Sculptra is a purified treatment of poly-L-lactic acid. When injected in the face, it stimulates your body to produce additional collagen, which will fill in the desired areas. Your body will begin producing collagen after a few weeks. For more information, it is best to get a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.
