I had voluma injections, but I do not notice a difference?

I have good cheekbones naturally, but have wanted to further emphasize them. I had 1 syringe of voluma 1 month ago (split b/w my chin & cheeks). I noticed a great difference w/ my chin, but nothing w/ my cheeks. I thought it was bcuz we only used .5 between both cheeks & i needed more.. So, i got another syringe today. I just got home and i can still barely see any difference! Whats going on? Should i go to a new DR..Do i need more? Does it just not work for me? I feel like Ive wasted $2000...

Good question and lot of clients want to know how much volume needs to be added to make the difference, if your cheeks are already full then to enhance them even more you would need much more volume compared to people who have volume loss significantly already. Chin area is different -sinec not much tissue between the bone and skin even little volume added with make the difference. I am sure your injector is fully qualified and if you had good results with chin, that means the injector knows what he is doing. Its just the matter of adding more volume.

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry that your current results have not been what you anticipated. Unfortunately without a full series of before and after images it is difficult to offer definite advice and I would counsel you to see your injector to review your concerns.  At a minimum you should see some change as a result of your tissue swelling, your long term results may take 2-4 weeks to develop.  Hope this helps.

This is difficult to answer without pictures. Keep in mind, it takes 1-2 weeks for final results with Voluma. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Sculptra is also good for cheek augmentation. Fat or implants are alternatives. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question.  It is difficult to comment without seeing photographs.  Voluma is a great product.  Beautiful and natural results can be achieved.  Some patients require more volume than others to achieve the desired result.  It will take 2-3 weeks for the product to settle and to see your final result.  Please be sure to see your injector for an in-person reevaluation to fully discuss your concerns and your goals and expectations in order to determine the best course of action.  Hope this helps and best wishes!

The overall result of filler is dependent on the quantity used and most importantly the placement in the correct anatomical plane and area. With cheek filler, the placement will depend on the outcome the client is looking for which in your case was to emphasise your cheekbones. In this instance Voluma should be placed higher onto the cheekbones themselves to provide the lift, if too much of the Voluma is placed in the apple area of the cheek you will not get the end result of emphasised cheekbones you were looking for.

First, I would advice you to wait for about two weeks in order to assess your results.  While most people do see some immediate results with Voluma, it can take about 14 days for it to fully life and fill an area.Secondly, without pictures, it is difficult to know if you are not getting enough injected.  In my practice, a majority of people do see appreciable difference with two syringes of Voluma.  However, some people do need 3 or even 4.  I would recommend following up with your injector in about two weeks.  Hopefully, they took good  pre-pictures and then they can take post-pictures.  You and the injector should compare the two and come up with a plan.

Voluma injections are all about placement and the number of syringes. While many patients achieve an appreciable difference with one syringe others may need up to four.  Factors that influence this are anatomy, age, and ideal body weight. While Voluma is an expensive filler, the long lasting results can make up for the cost. It may be helpful in your case to get a second opinion. You should love your Voluma! Best of luck.
