I had a full tummy tuck and muscle repair in 2019 after two 4kg babies via c section. I am pregnant again, contraception failed. I am wanting to know if with minimal weight gain (excessive weight gain previously 50lbs gain in pregnancy) could I have a chance at saving my tummy tuck results and muscle repair. I will be due to deliver via c section again will this damage the muscle repair? Thank you
Answer: Pregnancy post tummy tuck Weight gain and stretching of the muscles from the growing baby could impact your tummy tuck results, but only time will tell how much. I encourage you to try stay active during pregnancy if your obstetrician okays it and maintain a healthy balanced diet. These will work in your favor.

Answer: Abdomen Try to minimize your weight gain to what is healthy for the baby only. Your muscles may do well, but they will stretch as you expand.

Answer: A C-Section After Having a Tummy Tuck Thank you for your question, "Pregnant after tummy tuck, will delivery via C-section damage the muscle repair?" Let’s examine what a tummy tuck entails. Typically a tummy tuck entails the repair of the rectus abdominis muscle from the xiphoid to the top of your pubic bone. This is generally done with a permanent suture. The tummy tuck also removes excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen. Let's also now examine what does C-section entails. C-sections usually are a horizontal incision placed in the super pubic region to access the uterus. During this procedure, muscles are spread to obtain access to the uterus. Typically the access to the uterus is done during a tummy tuck; these sutures are cut during the C section to access your child. However, transaction of the muscles may not completely disrupt your tummy tuck results. I would suggest you do the following: have your baby via C-section. Wait 1 to 2 years after your childbirth, and then reassess your abdomen. If your abdomen still bothers, have a revision Tummy tuck. The muscles can be resutured after your C-section. Leave it alone if you are content with your abdomen 1-2 years after your childbirth. I hope this helps answer your question about whether your tummy tuck will be disrupted with your C-section. If you have any more questions regarding a tummy tuck, lower body lift, 360 circumferential lower body lift, belt lipectomy, belt abdominoplasty, or belt dermolipectomy please contact my office. Since the body lift is a big procedure, please seek an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon with significant experience performing the lower body lift. Do your research. Make sure they have performed at least 100 tummy tuck or circumferential lower body lift surgeries and have the before and after pictures to prove it. Carefully examine their before and after pictures and check their reviews on RealSelf. If you cannot find an experienced, tummy tuck or lower body lift surgeon in your neighborhood, consider traveling out of state if you must. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen. Answer: Pregnant after tummy tuck, will delivery via C-section damage the muscle repair? Hello @Peaceful1666, thank you for your question. A lot depends on the laxity of the abdominal wall. In some situations, the wall can return to its position with very little damage, however, this damage must be evaluated after the pregnancy and at the end of approximately eight months following the child birth. For more information and recommendations, it is best to consult with one or several board certified plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.

Answer: Pregnancy and tummy tukc Dear Peaceful1666, it is hard to tell for sure, but your body will most likely change during pregnancy and c-section.
