I had surgery (gyne) 8mo ago. Areola had scabs and left whitish depigmented spots (see pic). I've also attached pics of 3-month ago. The scar area experienced a color change (seems to be worsening in appearance) Is it advisable to wait for further healing?
Answer: Recommend using Melarase+ to help lighten dark scars. Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis. We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to discuss the best treatment options for your type of skin. . Answer: Depigmented scar after gynecomastia Thank you for your query. Depigmented scars are not uncommon when the incision is made at the edge of the areola. You should wait for a few more months, and if after that the scars do not improve in appearance, you should discuss this with your Plastic surgeon who may recommend a scar revision. All the best!

Answer: Gynecomastia Hello, The area of your concern is the location of the incision and therefore the scar. Yours seems to be undergoing some changes, increasing its color. If it is elevated you can use over the counter silicone pad scar therapies. If it remains wide or has dense color you can speak to your plastic surgeon about a future revision where, in the office, the scar can be revised and hopefully providing a different result next time. The reasons for that can be discussed with your surgeons. Best of luck.

Answer: Scars Dear Awesome11652, I understand you are concerned with the appearance of your scars. As your scars heal, it should flatten out and lighten. Loss of pigmentation or hyperpigmentation may also be experienced but will resolve over time. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care instructions when it comes to scar management to avoid any complications like infection and for faster healing and recovery.
