I got a lip augmentation, and my doctor used Juvederm Voluma. When I heard 'juvederm', I thought..yes, of course! But when I got home and did my research, I realized that Voluma for the lips is off-label. What will happen to my lips?

Answer: Voluma for lips Thanks for the question. I wouldn't be worried that the Voluma was used off label, as many things are done that way. It just means a formal study was not done through the FDA for that specific treatment protocol. For example, Botox is FDA approved for glabella and crows feet.....everything else is off label. It is safe but just not FDA approved because the company did not want to spend millions of dollars running another study.I personally don't use VOLUMA on the lips because I think it is too thick of a product, in the lips you want a softer thinner product. However, the advantage is that it lasts much longer. In your circumstance, maybe Voluma was a good choice. If you like the look and feel, then i wouldn't worry at all. If you feel your lips are too stiff then I would re discuss this with your injector to see what their thoughts are. good luck"The above answer has been given without seeing this patient and cannot be substituted for actual in-person examination and medical advice,; it is only opinion. Seek in-person treatment with a trained medical professional for appropriate care."

Answer: My doctor used Juvederm Voluma on my lips. What will happen to me? Using product off label is not unusual. Voluma is a long lasting product and you will most likely have great results which will last for along time. Voluma is not the first choice for lips but many physicians use it and like it very much. I think in time, it will be used more and more because of its longevity
