I had a chin dimple and decided to get a filler. She used Juvederm and the entire syringe to fill it since it was deep. Ive gone back twice now because it keeps flattening out right in the centre after about a week. The last time she used Voluma and the same thing happened. Why is this happening?

Hello sandras77, thank you for your interesting question.  In my practice, I see a lot of patients who desire filler injections on the chin because they expect the chin to be smooth without any dimpling/irregularity.  Often times, the dimpling is caused by a strong mentalis muscle and filler injection alone would not improve the outcome.  It'd be better if I could see your photo or examine you in person but I think you may benefit from a botox injection prior to the filler injection to weaken the muscle that causes the dimpling.  Hope that helps.

Thank you for your question.  Without photographs it is difficult to make the best recommendation as there may be a few reasons for this difficulty in achieving correction.  If the dimple is quite deep it may take a lot of filler to make a noticeable difference in the depth of the dimple, and serial treatments may be needed to make a slow improvement. If your chin muscles are quite active they may be displacing or flattening your filler in the first few days and Botox in combination with the fillers may be useful.  Hope that this helps.
