Hi! I am very unhappy with the way my body looks postpartum. I am interested in a breast lift with implant, tummy tuck and also possibly liposuction with fat transfer to the hips. Am I a good candidate for these procedures? Is there anything else you’d suggest? What should I get first, or is best to get it all done together?
Answer: Would I be a good candidate for a mommy makeover? Thanks so much for your question, Determining whether you're a good candidate for a mommy makeover depends on several factors but mainly you need to be in good overall health. A mommy makeover is highly customizable, often involving procedures like a tummy tuck, breast lift or augmentation, and liposuction to address body changes after pregnancy or aging. A good candidate should be in good health, with no conditions that could complicate surgery or recovery. Understanding what the procedure can and cannot do, and having realistic goals for your body and appearance, is important I recommend you to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to make a plan that aligns your expectations Sincerely, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol

Answer: Mommy Makeover Starting with your breasts; I would recommend a mastopexy to rejuvenate your breasts. This will give you improved shape, symmetry and proportion. You would end up with a "C" cup and may not even desire an implant. If so, then augmentation can be performed in a delayed fashion with either an implant (saline for least worry factor) or fat grafting leading to a predictable, durable result. Regarding your tummy, if you do not have diastasis (stretching of the abdominal muscle), and excellent option is liposuction of your abdomen with skin excision and an umbilical transposition; much like the skin aspect of a tummy tuck. This is done with an oral cocktail of pills and local tumescent anesthesia, no drains and a dramatically less stressful recovery than a full tummy tuck. If, however, you have diastasis (assessed by physical exam), then you would need a FULL abdominoplasty with plication of the rectus muscle. But it looks like your muscles are flat and tight from your photos. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Answer: Mommy makeover Based on your photos, you are a great candidate for a mommy makeover! As far as your breasts, the procedure will really depend on what your ultimate size goal is. If you generally like the size of your breasts (ie, do you like they look in clothing in a supportive bra), then you may only need a breast lift (mastopexy). For these patients, I do a tissue sparing technique, which essentially an auto-augmentation, conserving all of your breast tissue, but lifting the overall breast and bringing the nipple-areola to a higher, more aesthetic position. I typically use some type of absorbable mesh with this procedure to maintain the results over time. If your goal breast size is larger than your current volume, then a lift/augmentation with implants is your best bet. A tummy tuck will both remove the excess tissue of your lower abdomen as well as tighten your abdominal muscles that have likely stretched during pregnancy. I would typically perform liposuction of the flanks and upper abdomen and do abdominal etching to give a svelte, contoured, and athletic-looking result to your abdomen. Fat grafting to your hips would be a personal preference, although might not necessary after your flanks are contoured. I commonly add in liposuction to the inner an outer thighs, because who doesn’t want a thigh-gap! Best of luck in your aesthetic journey!

Answer: Surgery You should do well with the procedures you listed. You could also consider liposuction with nonsurgical EMSculpt to tone and tighten your abdominal muscles. If all are done at one time, you will need a longer recovery time and may not be able to lift a child longer. This can all be discussed during the consultation.
