I had my surgery 6 months ago and I am extremely unhappy with the result and I'm not sure what to do. There is no way I want to show anyone my breasts the way they are now and my scars look awful! I am just hoping for some advice on what I can do now or what my options may be?
Answer: Unacceptable Appearance After Circumareolar Breast Lift Hello,I am sorry you are not happy with your result. Your scaring is not really the issue, as it is rather fine and colorless. The real issue is the shape of your breasts, the radial pleating around your areola, and the asymmetry in shape, size, and position of the areola. This is an all too common problem when this type of breast lift is applied to breasts that need a more formal type of lift, either a vertical breast lift or an 'anchor scar' lift. Now that its done, you will need to have a revision lift to improve your appearance. However, you should still be able to get a great result. My recommendation is to seek out a new surgeon, one that does all forms of cosmetic breast surgery, including lifts, reductions, and revisions. Certification by the ABPS and membership with the ASAPS are important, requisite qualifications.Best of luck!

Answer: Bad scarring after breast lift and implants? Hello! Thank you for your question. It is common for scars to fully mature for up to a year. In the meantime, there are a few things that may help to ameliorate your incision/scar. The most proven (as well as cheapest) modality is simple scar massage. Applying pressure and massaging the well-healed scar has been shown to improve the appearance as it breaks up the scar tissue, hopefully producing the finest scar as possible. Other things that have been shown to add some benefit are silicone sheets, hydration, and topical steroids. In addition, avoidance of direct sunlight to the incision will significantly help the appearance as they tend to discolor with UV light during the healing process. If unsightly scars are still present after approximately a year's time, other things that your surgeon may consider are intralesional steroid injections, laser, or just surgical revision of the scar itself. If you are unhappy, consideration for revision is reasonable. Hope that this helps! Best wishes for a wonderful result!

Answer: Pleating after circumareolar breast lift and augmentation Thank you for your question and photograph. I'm very sorry to hear of your experience. As others as stated your scarring is fine. The problem is pleating or folds around the areola. At 6 months this is most likely due to the fact that you should've had a lollipop or anchor breast lift. Periareolar mastopexy only works to improve small amounts of breast ptosis or sag. I agree with others that she should reconsult your plastic surgeon. If he is unwilling to revise this then seek another consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Please see the link below.
