I've had a blocked nostril for years, pretty sure some cartilage fell into my airway after trauma. I'm constantly sniffing through that nostril to try to clear it and I can feel cartilage floating around. My septum still looks straight. How do I fix the broken cartilage that is only on the right side of the nose? I don't think you can put spreader grafts on only one side, and I would prefer not to have any surgery. My ENT said he can't see my cartilage until inside surgery HELP

Answer: Nasal evaluation Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. If you have breathing problems with a collapsed internal nasal valve, then spreaders are the right maneuver. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Answer: Nasal obstruction There are a number of things that can produce nasal airway obstruction other than just a deviated septum. An inordinate evaluation is the only way to determine what is causing your breathing problem and what can be done to current it.
