Hello.Great question. Congratulations on your upcoming procedure. However, I will suggest discussing your pre op concerns directly with your surgeon's office. Every surgeon has their own pre op protocols.
Dear shannonreidy, every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Generally speaking, there should be no reason not to remove the piercing on the morning of the surgery. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
In my opinion, you can leave it as late as you want. I see no reason why they can't be taken out just before your surgery. Replacing it afterwards may be more complicated, depending on what your surgeon has planned and the positioning of the piercing, of course. I would advise you to discuss this with your surgeon before and after your surgery
In my opinion, a nose ring could be removed in the morning of the day the rhinoplasty was to be performed. Your particular surgeon may feel differently, so I would recommend checking with your surgeon's office.
I see that you have had several answers that suggest removing the ring just before surgery is performed. I will differ from this recommendation and say that in my practice I am more concerned about minimizing the chance for infection and suggest removing the ring as soon as possible. This is true for other body piercings as well.Good luck to you!Frank Rieger M.D. Tampa Plastic Surgeon

Hi Cecilia, you are a very good candidate for rhinoplasty. You have what is called a tension septum where the lower part of your septum is a little over-developed, pushing your tip down and giving the appearance of a bump. This also tends to make the tip look overly rounded and shows up mostly ...
Rhinoplasty dies sometimes change the smile but it’s not from nerve injury. I have noticed particularly that large tip grafts can make the tip stiff which can alter the smile slightly.
