Ultherapy is a great non-surgical option for skin tightening. There is currently no evidence suggesting that it is necessary to taken collagen drinks before or after Ultherapy. Here is what I recommend to my patients after Ultherapy: 1. Avoid the routine use of anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen and Celebrex for one month. The inflammatory response in your tissue from Ultherapy works in a positive way to stimulate collagen fiber formation and remodeling 2. If you are not already on a medically oriented skin care program, you may want to discuss this with your provider at the time of your treatment. Topical prescription skin products can help to stimulate collagen fiber formation through direct action with growth factors and through exfoliation to resurface skin. Medical skin care combined with treatments like Ultherapy can maximize the results you obtain and help to maintain the results. 3. Take 1000 mg Vitamin C daily. Vitamin C has a necessary role in collagen synthesis Good Luck!
No, it is not necessary to take collagen drinks before or after an Ultherapy treatment. In fact, the best thing you can do for your skin is to eat a healthy diet, drink lots of water, and have a dermatologist recommended medical grade skin care routine. This will help the effects of Ultherapy to last longer and promote overall skin health.
Collagen drinks are not tied to Ultherapy treatments and are not recommended as a suggestion prior to treatment.
There is no evidence that these drinks help at all. I find that sculptra injections really help the skin tightening and laser procedures. Best, Dr. Emer.
Ultherapy stimulates natural collagen regeneration, and the collagen you get in the diet is metabolized just like any other protein. It is very unlikely to make any difference.
There is no clinical reason to use collagen drinks. Collagen drinks and pills are a big hype. The collagen is not absorbed nor does it go to your skin as collagen. A healthy diet is more important for good skin health.
Long term collagen drinks such as Skinade on the UK are said to help your skin quality and healing, along with good diet, healthy exercise and avoiding smoking. There is no particular reason that you must have collagen drinks with Ultherapy just because you are thin, but many clinicians recommend them in any repair situation, such as post surgery and Ultherapy post treatment. In Ultherapy, collagen resynthesis is important, so a collagen drink is one factor of many that can help.
Thank you for your question. It is not necessary to drink collagen prior to Ultherapy. It is more important to lead a healthy lifestyle with a healthy diet rich in vitamins and amino acids, avoid sun exposure, and no smoking as this will lead to the most benefit with Ulthera. Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
Thank you for your question.Collagen drinks don't do anything. Don't waste your money. Eat jello. It is entirely collagen based, being hydrolyzed collagen. As long as you have good nutrition, you should have the right amounts of amino acids in your diet to synthesize new collagen following ultherapy. Our body is a dynamic process between collagen synthesis and breakdown. Collagen is a supporting matrix of all of our tissues and unless you have a defect in collagen synthesis, procedures that cause tissue injury will stimulate collagen synthesis.Important things are to reduce sun exposure and to NOT smoke after Ulherapy.Read my Ultherapy ebook on the link below.Hratch L Karamanoukian MD#RealSelf100 Member
HI and thank you for you question! We give our patients oral medications only. Sometimes we will try some topical numbing for the 1.5mm if the patient is sensitive to this transducer. Ice is not typically recommended with an Ultherapy treatment, as it can interfere with efficacy. Best, Dr. Grant...
