Ulthera uses ultrasound energy and is safe with a pacemaker. Radiofrequency procedures can interfere with a pacemaker, so pacemakers are typically a contraindication to treatment. Make sure your provider discusses your medical history in detail before performing any procedure (whether surgical or non-surgical). Best of luck!
Hi Manalil,Thank you for your question. Ultherapy works by using high frequency sound waves to create heat under the skin. The treatment effects are localized to the targeted tissue and no distant effects have ever been recorded. Having a pacemaker does make you a high risk for surgical procedures, but the stress of this kind of procedure is low enough that stress on your heart would be unlikely. In my practice I often use anxiolytics like Xanax to help make it even less stressful. Please make sure you discuss this with your doctor.Best of luck.Dr. B
Thank you for your question.RF devices will interfere with pacemaker function.Ultherapy will not as it is ultrasound energy.Dr Karamanoukian
Radiofrequency can interfere with pacemakers, but not the high frequency sound waves of Ultherapy. Speak with your treating physician and make sure they know you have a pacemaker before proceeding with any treatment, for safety's sake!Hope this helps.
