Is it possible for a 57 year old to get a mommy makeover?

Thanks for the question. There's no age limit for mommy makeover procedure. However, patients must be over 18 years of age.

57 is certainly not “too old” to undergo a mommy makeover. One caveat, though—you should be in generally good health. This means you should be free of any conditions that could impact surgery or your recovery, including bleeding disorders. Generally speaking, there is no upper age limit for plastic surgery. What matters more is the patient’s current health. 

As long as you are in good health you can have a tummy tuck or mommy makeover just like a woman in her 30's. Risk factors that your doctor would take into consideration would be high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity if present and age. There is some increase risk over 65 with regard to deep venous thrombosis (blood clots).

Age is much less of a factor for risks of surgery than is health.  I have treated 70 plus year old patients who had much better health and less surgical risk than a 30 year old in poor health.  Age will often dictate a different type of pre-operative evaluation including an EKG, current mammogram, and in my practice basic labs.  Please discuss with a surgeon, good luck. 

Thanks for your question. This is a great example of age not being more than just a number. A majority of my mommy makeover patients are in their forties and fifties. Your surgical goals and general health are much more important factors in determining whether or not you can have a mommy makeover than your age.

The primary consideration for undergoing a "mommy makeover" is that the patient is in good health once it has been determined that they are a good candidate for the surgery. This will be assessed by your primary care physician following a consultation with your plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your question. Age is just a number. Your medical health is more important. I would much rather perform a surgery on a healthy 57 year old than an unhealthy 27 year old. If you are worried about the long OR time for a mommy makeover, you can always stage the procedures and do the breast procedure and abdominal procedure at different times. Discuss your options with your plastic surgeon at a consultation and make sure your plastic surgeon is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Best of luck!
