Could you please advise what the dilution rate is for botox and dysport. I have asked my injectionist to give me the minimum dilution of dysport and she said that if she does that for everyone it would mean that she would use more product and loose money. I found that botox is way better being condensed and precise to dysport being diluted and spreading to areas not needed. Causing drooping.. i have gone back to botox and have noticed a much much better result.
Answer: Dilution The products are very similar. The units are slightly different due to different standards from different laboratories. The conversions is about 2.5 units of dysport per unit of botox to get similar results. The dilution has nothing to do with results but it will spread more with more dilution. You should see several expert injectors in your area.

Answer: Dilution of botox and dysport and myths There are many myths about the dilution and diffusing effect of the 2 different neuromodulators. The dilution on the package insert is not always the best dilution; and many experts disagree. The most important factor is the expertise of the physician injecting. Diffusion of product depends on many factors such as skin thickness, level of injection, pressure of injection, dilution of the product, and dosage of the product. Although there have been studies showing potentially more diffusion of dysport at a similar dilution, this can vary greatly due to other factors. Precise injections may require more concentrated product; however, the biggest factors involved in obtaining great results is correct dosage, placement, and technique for the dilution used. Don't get caught up in dilution or units, go to an expert; you may pay more, but its worth it.

Answer: Dilution of Dysport / Botox Thank you for your question. That is a completely unacceptable answer from your injector. The standard Botox dose is 20 units and the standard Dysport dose is 60 units per area. I always mix my Dysport with 1ml of bacteriostatic saline. I've found that injection with bacteriostatic saline does not cause as much irritation as when it is mixed with plain saline. Some providers will dilute with 2, 3, or even 4ml of bacteriostatic saline. This is probably what your provider does. As a patient, you have the right to know exactly the dilution you are receiving. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon who commonly performs this procedure.

Answer: Dilution of Muscle Relaxant Products Hi nearly50, and thanks for your question! All forms of chemical muscle relaxant require dilution with sterile saline (salt water) prior to use. The dilution ratio chosen by the injector should (in general) be guided by the manufacturer guidelines, with optimal dilution differing depending on the type of treatment being undertaken. Regardless of the dilution ratio chosen, a competent practitioner should decide on a dose based on the ideal amount of active product to deliver into a specific treatment area. This means that the dilution ratio should not affect the amount of product used and cost of treatment - if your injecting practitioner is indicating this to be the case I would recommend a second opinion from a reputable practitioner in your area. Hope that helps! Dr Scott.

Answer: Dysport and Botox Hello and thank you for your question. The two products are very similar, and most would say that the conversion is between 2-3units of Dysport per unit of Botox to achieve the same lasting result. This can vary from patient to patient and there are many other factors that go into having an excellent, lasting result. It is best to see an injector with plenty of experience, and stick with a product that gives you the best results.Benjamin J. Cousins MDBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
