Thank you for your question. The standard Botox dose is 20 units and the standard Dysport dose is 60 units PER AREA. I always mix my Dysport with 1ml of bacteriostatic saline. Some providers will dilute with 2, 3, or even 4ml of bacteriostatic saline. Your provider could very well be diluting it, thus causing it to last a shorter than expected length of time. As a patient, you have the right to know exactly the dilution you are receiving. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon who commonly performs this procedure.
50 units of Dysport is roughly equivalent to 16 units of Botox. This dose is on the low side to treat both the glabella (11 lines) and the forehead. Some patients like a small dose because they are afraid of having a "frozen" look but the effect is usually not as complete and not long lasting. I've noticed that Botox / Dysport / Xeomin can last different lengths in different people. If patients say that they didn't get much of a result or that the effect didn't last long, I sometimes switch from one of the three brands.Best regards,Dr. Kwon
Hi Oak, 50 units is not enough product for these two areas. Dysport was FDA approved for 50 units between the eyes (11 lines) but we found that when we injected this amount, we did not achieve 3-1/2 - 4 months as would be expected. We started using 60 units in this area and it solved the problem. The forehead area is a new area and you need an additional 20- 40 units for this area. If you are concerned with the overall budget, then we would suggest picking one of those areas to get proper dosing. If the budget is not an issue, then consider more units for the two areas. Dosages for injection with Dysport and neuromodulators vary significantly from person to person. Dilution of the product effects diffusion of the product but generally not effect. The most important factor is the expertise of the injector and their technique. 50 units of dysport is generally a lower dosage for 2 areas; increasing the dosage may effect longevity. It is important to have a discussion with your physician regarding your expectations. Generally, lower dosages equate to more movement and a more "natural" appearance but tend to wear more quickly; higher dosages will create less movement or a more "frozen" look.
50 Units of dysport to cover the forehead and the 11's is not actually that much. You probably are not getting enough product depending on the severity of the lines. You would need an in-person evaluation to see how much you require. If you don't feel comfortable with your current injector then I would recommend seeing someone else.
When you equate 50 units of Dysport to Botox, it is about 16 unitsof Botox. While we often use the saying“every patient is different”, this sounds like a small amount to cover yourglabella (11’S) as well as your forehead. Most patients require upwards of 75-90 units of dysport to treat both thoseareas. There is also an opportunity totry another brand, such as Botox or Xeomin because sometimes patients responddifferently to each toxin. It is best tobe treated by someone who injects frequently.
Hello and thank you for your questions, and I hope youget the results you desire. The effects and duration of Botox/Dysport usually last 3-4 months and on average 20 units of Botox and 50-60 units of Dysport should be adequate for the area between your brows (glabella). Additional treatments of Botox and Dysport can be used for the forehead and the effective doses here vary from patient to patient as well. Still it isbest to follow up with your injector preferably a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist with experience to discuss your concerns.Benjamin J. 50 units of Dysport is only equivalent to 16 to 20 units of botox which is a small dose for the glabellar region alone. To add the forehead lines also would decrease the results even more. The freshness (or the periord of time) after it was diluted could affect the results. Dysport mixed 3 weeks ago will not work as good has product that was just mixed.
Nausea is not a side effect associated with Dysport, and it should not spread beyond where it was injected. Your nausea is most likely coincidental or possibly related to anxiety over having the treatment done for the first time. Dysport lasts for around 3-4 months in most people.
I'm sorry you are unhappy with your treatment results. The effects of Dysport will fade gradually over 3 to 4 months. There is no product or exercise that is known to make it metabolize faster.
I would recommend a visit to your injector. Typically Dysport will last 3-4 months if standard doses are used. Check to see the dilution that your injector used and the amount of units injected. It should definitely last more than 6 weeks if standard amounts were injected.
