Hello, And thank you for the question. In patients with known implant rupture and/or leakage, the recommendation is to perform breast implant removal. Following removal of breast implants without replacement, a patient may choose one of two options: do nothing and see how much the skin retracts and then decide about the breast lift at a later point, or undergo a breast lift and fat grafting at the same time. Breast lift will put your nipples into the correct position, make the areola smaller and allow excess skin to be taken away, giving you a more youthful and lifted breast appearance. Some people are a little apprehensive to the full breast lift due to the scars, but typically they do very well and scars fade over time. The cost of breast implant removal and lift is around $9000-$10,000 but varies on the individual patient basis. The decision-making process depends on your discussion with the plastic surgeon following a thorough physical exam evaluation, in order to discuss your goals and concerns for the best cosmetic results. I hope this helps.Best, Dr. KaranetzDr. Irena KaranetzBreast Fellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
Hi @carolbit, thank you for your question. My opinion is that a breast implant removal should be combined with an immediate breast reconstruction to reposition the breast tissue and improve the projection of the upper pole and medial areas using the BRALAN Technique (Breast Reconstruction Anatomical Lift Augmentation) as the results will be aesthetically adequate and have a minimal L-shaped scar. With this in mind, the costs of each procedure will always depend on the characteristics and needs of each patient. If you are considering breast augmentation, consultation with a plastic surgeon experienced in this procedure is essential to ensure optimal results. Best regards. Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Combining a breast implant removal with a lift helps by both removing excess skin and also lifting and shaping the breast. Without the lift the breast looks deflated and droopy. The cost is about $11,500 in my practice.
The technique I recommend is explantation and lift using The Bellesoma Method. The implants are removed, your breast tissue is reshaped creating upper pole fullness, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided and nipple sensation (in 95%) is maintained, if not injured during your previous surgery. The cost of this procedure is $12,000 in Houston, TX. Best Wishes,Gar Horndeski, M.D.
Dear carolbit, the cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). It would be the best to visit or call plastic surgery offices and ask for a price.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Breast implants can last many years. Saline implants deflate when they have a leak. Silicone breast implants tend to harden when ruptured. At age 72 this will probably be your last procedure for the aesthetics of your chest. Most women have ptosis of the breasts which is addressed by a breast lift. Replacement of implants may in part be provided by your implant manufacturer. Cost of two hours at an outpatient surgery center is about 2500 to 3000, surgeon's fees are 7500 to 12500 dependent on need for a lift or not. See a board certified ASAPS plastic surgeon in consultation. Good luck..
Your Medicare may cover the cost of removing implants, but not cover new implants. I would suggest finding a board certified plastic surgeon that does reconstructive surgery and go for consultation. Prices do vary, but Medicare usually covers the removal of old ruptured gel implants. Medicare will not cover a lift.
Cost for implant removal and lift will vary by surgeon and region. Depending on the type of implants you have the removal portion may be covered by insurance. Visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to find out more about the procedure and to get a quote.
Without photos and more history very hard to offer accurate fee quotations. I suspect the fee ranges from $10,000-$25,000. Best to seek in person or virtual consults with private practice boarded PSs.
CarolThe fees vary from surgeon to surgeon and city to city. It also depends on whether or not you require a capsulectomy (removal of the scar tissue around the implants). The type of breast lift also varies in fees depending on which procedure is required Explantation with a lift may cost from $10,000 to $18,000.
You probably made a capsule around the seroma, which will now need to be removed and drain inserted.
Removal of breast implants need not be a dangerous procedure if they are simply removed without removal of the scar capsules. If they are under muscle with dual plane, you should have the muscle re-attached, which isn't difficult. Risks increase if you have a capsulectomy and especially if you...
Since you are now pregnant, no, your implants should not be removed. No surgeon will want to put your baby to extra risks right now. The pain is probably from your hormones and should improve with time. Once you have settled down after completing breast feeding can the implants be safely removed.
