Have you been formally diagnosed with alopecia areata with a skin biopsy of the lesion is by dermatologist? Normally a dermatologist would perform a biopsy, confirm the diagnosis, and do Kenalog injections into that area to prevent further hair loss. It often takes a long time for the hair to grow back after having had alopecia areata, and hair grows in cycles so it could either be the hairs are not currently in the growth cycle versus recurrence of the condition. I would definitely seek a dermatologist to consider a repeat biopsy and further treatment with more Kenalog injections to arrest the condition if it is active. I did have one patient who was taking Nexium over-the-counter anti-acid medication that turned out to be the culpritThat was causing the alopecia areata. There Are a variety of medications that can contribute to this condition. Definitely look up a list of medications that causes this so you can confirm you’re not on one of these meds! are a variety of medications that can contribute to this condition. Hello! I would like to start by first asking you your medical history… Has your right upper lid always been closer to your pupil, in comparison to your left upper lid? It is important to look back at old photos of yourself to make sure that this is not a new finding. Sudden onset of one sided ptosis can mean an underlying medical condition such as an aneurysm. As an ophthalmologist, I always order an MRI of the brain and orbits with and without contrast on any patient with a one sided lid ptosis. Another thing that can cause a one-sided ptosis is a condition called myasthenia gravis, which can be ruled out with a simple blood test. With regard to the lower lids, you have a little bit of inferior scleral show, it would be important to note any history of thyroid problems and check a thyroid panel to make sure you do not have early thyroid eye disease. in the lower lids you have a lot of darkness underneath the eyes which is common with underlying allergies. This can also be known as allergic shiners. I would consider allergy testing if you had other symptoms consistent with possible underlying allergies. After doing a thorough medical work up to rule out any other underlying conditions, right upper lid ptosis repair would be an appropriate surgery to consider. Rebuilding the volume in the mid face beneath the eyes With a facial filler like sculptra is a good start for supporting mid face atrophy, which is contributing to the hollow appearance beneath your eyes. Of course, a good skin care routine is a must!
