I am a 54 year old asian female. I had been considering having my nose reshaped since my 20’s as I’d always been self conscious about my nose as it was a large ‘hooked’ nose that I felt was too big for my face. Finally, in the summer of 2024, I plucked up the courage and decided I was going to get my nose reshaped. I did my research and came across Mr Banerjee who had been highly recommended by many people. It was the best decision I could have ever made! I had my nose reshaped in October and I couldn’t be happier with the result. My new nose looks natural and is now in proportion to the size of my face. I’m very happy with the result. Mr Banerjee has been realistic, honest and professional throughout my consultations and surgery. He is very knowledgeable and I highly recommend him. Thank you Mr Banerjee, you have changed my life for the better :)
I’ve known Dr Banerjee for some time and has treated myself and family members over the years. He has always been very professional and took good care during my procedure. I had surgery on my nose and he did a perfect job with the shape and entire process from start to finish. He has changed my life for the better and I would highly recommend his service to anyone.
Mr Banerjee was very informative at every appointment and is such a lovely person. I was very happy with the outcome of my surgery, I got exactly what I expected. I would highly recommend Mr Banerjee if your considering surgery.
Amazing experience, answered any questions I had regarding my treatment. Dr Banerjee was also great regarding the aftercare following the treatment in regards to my post op checkups and any questions I had when healing. Overall, so so happy with my new nose
From start to finish I felt completely confident in Dr Banerjee. He was calm, knowledgeable, reassuring and realistic throughout. The consultation process was thorough and detailed including morph images of what would potentially be achieved. I found that the initial recovery period was difficult, (not with pain!) but more mentally processing the fact what I would be seeing in the mirror on cast off day will be different to what I have seen for the last 25 years. I would say it took around 3-4 weeks post surgery to feel generally comfortable, as the swelling continued to subside gradually. I started to think about it less and less and my confidence changed dramatically. I was no longer self conscious and it was an amazing feeling! I am now a year post op and my only regret was not doing it sooner. If you are considering rhinoplasty and have been for some time, I’d say do you research and go for it. I feel like it changed me for the better and I couldn’t be more grateful to Dr Banerjee. Thank you.
I broke my nose when I was young and had thought about rhinoplasty for many years. It wasn't until I came across Dr Anil Banerjee that I thought it was a realistic option for me. His calm, reassuring demeanour during my first consultation gave me the confidence I needed to proceed. We talked through my options in detail and he later provided me with images of the expected outcome (which I absolutely loved!). I felt very well looked after throughout the procedure with frequent check-ins from Dr Banerjee. The aftercare has been amazing too; I have just had my 6 month check-up with him where he made sure I was happy with the results of the surgery and to answer any further questions I may have. Overall, I can't recommend this surgeon enough and am so pleased with the outcome. My nose looks natural and I feel it fits my face perfectly. This has greatly improved my self-confidence and I only wish I had found Dr Anil Banerjee sooner!
Excellent. I have been contemplating surgery for many years but wanted to find someone I was really comfortable with who I felt was able to address both my aesthetic and functional needs. My nose was deformed and not only looked bad but I also had difficulty breathing. I felt very comfortable with Mr Banerjee, I felt like he was really honest from the start and didn't try to sugarcoat what needed doing, explaining that I would need cartilage taking from my ribs to use to reconstruct my septum. He encouraged me to go away and really think about it and I felt very much that it was about making the right choice for me. I went ahead with the surgery and am so happy I did, not only am I no longer self-conscious about my nose but I can also breathe with ease. My aftercare was also excellent and I felt that I was able to contact Mr Banerjee's secretary with any questions before and after surgery.
I could not recommend Mr Banerjee enough! From the initial consultation, he was honest about what we could achieve and also wanted to keep my nose looking natural, as I did not want to completely change my face. I wanted my nose to be straighter from the front and the dorsal hump removed. Mr Banerjee completed a rhinoplasty and it went amazingly, better than I ever expected. He listened to what I had asked for and my nose is now looking amazing. It has been nearly 2 months since my Rhinoplasty and my nose has healed really well and I love it so much. I would really recommend Mr Banerjee if you are looking for a natural rhinoplasty.
From my first appointment with Mr Banerjee he was very informative, professional and extremely positive that he could achieve the results I wanted from the procedure. Before committing to the procedure he made sure I fully understood what the operation entailed, the risks associated with it and what the recovery time was likely to be. After the second consultation I was sure I wanted to go ahead. My procedure went really smoothly and I have had excellent after care from both Mr Banerjee and the nurses at the Spire hospital in Leicester. I could not recommend both highly enough and am extremely happy with the results.
Hi all. I spent nearly 10 years thinking about having this surgery, and am so happy I chose Dr. Banerjee to do the procedure. After researching surgeons, I arranged an appointment because he was very experienced in his field and I had read lots of positive reviews from previous patients. At the initial consultation, Dr. Banerjee listened to what I wanted to change and answered all my questions honestly. He was realistic about the outcome of the surgery, which I appreciated. When we met again and discussed the computer morphs, I booked the procedure. I am so happy with the outcome and I can't believe the confidence it's given me. The result is natural and in all honesty, even better than I imagined. The care at Spire Hospital was excellent, all the staff were friendly and professional. Follow-up with the Dr. has also been excellent. I don't usually leave reviews, but I had such a good experience that I would recommend anyone thinking about rhinoplasty to meet with Dr. Banerjee :-)
Although you are correct in your assertion that by the age of 20 growth is completed, various dimensions of the nose will change further with age. In particular, the support tissues dependent upon collagen will weaken with time leading to drooping of the tip. There may also be thickening of the skin over the nose. This is particularly the case in men and specifically over the tip. The detrimental changes to skin tone and tissue support are increased by alcohol, smoking and poor diet which will therefore produce the unwanted signs of ageing - premature or not. A healthy lifestyle will therefore slow the effects of ageing but unfortunately there will be changes with time.
If I were asked this by a patient I would say the question might suggest a significant weekly amount and if so it would be useful to quantify this. Large amounts can affect healing and coagulation. From a purely anaesthetic point of view, a high alcohol intake might alter the way the general anaesthetic was processed and therefore the patients response to it. The anaesthetists I work with always ask about alcohol intake at the preoperative assessement on the day of surgery. I take a history of alcohol use as part of the general history taking during the pre-op clinic visits. From a surgical point of view I think it would be wise to take alcohol only in small amounts in the week preceding surgery and to abstain completely for at least 24 hours pre-op.
Its frustrating when after a rhinoplasty a result isn't apparent even after 3 months. I would be patient. Looking at your photos there is a definite profile difference between the pre and post op photos. The tip swelling is the slowest to resolve however. Ironically it tends to look larger because the swelling over the nasal bones and mid third goes down much quicker. As your surgeon said, thicker skin takes longer to settle, particularly over the nasal tip. It is likely that at around one year post operatively you will have a clearer idea of how the long term result will be but even at that point there may be a further reduction in tip size to come. The worst thing you can do is consider any form of tip revision before you know how the final result will look.
There are a number of factors that will influence post operative swelling following a rhinoplasty On the whole I tell my patients to expect the majority of the swelling to have subsided after a month but there are variations in the different subsites of the nose. The first area to go down is over the nasal bridge. This area is often almost completely resolved by two weeks post op. The next area is the mid third- this can take a further 1-2 weeks by which time around 80-90% of the swelling has resolved. The last area for swelling to subside is over the tip. This area can take months to a year to fully resolve. I warn patients to expect the tip to look a little larger when they wake in the morning than when they go to bed as lying flat encourages more fluid to accumulate in the soft tissues of the nasal tip. When this overnight fluctuation in nasal tip size has stopped, that is usually an indication that there is unlikely to be any further decrease in size. Factors which influence the speed at which swelling resolves are 1. Any post op bleeding into the tissues or infection - rare but can occur 2. The amount of reduction in cartilage ( the more that is taken away, the more potential space between skin and cartilage. It can therefore take longer for the skin envelope to redrape) 3. The thickness of the skin (thicker skin has more intrinsic strength and takes longer to adapt to the new underlying cartilage framework. It will also give a less defined result)
I can see you're itching to get back into your normal routine and I see this a lot with patients. I usually advise that gentle exercise is ok after a month but extreme exercise can lead to swelling in the soft tissues particularly around the tip and mid third of the nose. Essentially if the size of the nose has been reduced by the surgery, the skin envelope that is left is larger than the underlying bone and cartilage. This leads to 'dead space' which is initially filled by blood. Tapes and splints reduce but dont completely stop this. When the external dressings come off there is often a slight swelling again as the skin 'rebounds'. It then slowly shrink wraps to the new size nose but this can take up to a year. If you drastically elevate the blood pressure in the head ( as can happen with lifting heavy weights), you may find that the swelling is slower to settle. My advice would be to take things easy and gradually get back into exercise rather than hitting the gym hard after a month. Speak to your surgeon about it.
